No afternoon tea is complete without the debate over which comes first, jam or cream. In South Devon we are spoilt for establishments that have perfected the fluffy scone, with ample wonderful bakeries nearby. We ordered our scones, a trio of cakes, plus mouth-watering mini tarts from The Bake House in Salcombe. During the summer months The Bake House is popular with visitors and locals alike, so pre order to avoid disappointment!

If it wasn’t for the breathtaking sea views, we could almost have forgotten we were in South Devon, thanks to hand-crafted French patisseries and macaroons from Saveurs in Dartmouth. These irresistible creations added another dimension of elegance to our afternoon feast.
