Citizens of Kingsbridge have been putting on entertaining events for centuries, with the market town’s annual fair going back all the way to 1461 AD. The purpose of the Kingsbridge Food and Music Festival is to host a “party for the people of Kingsbridge” and visitors to the beautiful town, to celebrate the eclectic mix of incredible tastes and sounds that originate from the area. This volunteer-supported event takes place mostly around the Town Square, where live acts perform while festival goers enjoy some of the best street food from around the region. What’s more, there is a ‘Kids Zone’ with workshops and other activities, making this three-day festival perfect for visitors and residents of all ages!

Dates: 20th – 23rd June
This four day festival celebrates the local environment, connects individuals to nature and inspires them to participate and engage in action to help mitigate and prevent climate change. Hosted by a wide range of local organisations, practitioners, experts and nature lovers, the programme is rich and varied; you will find it positively brimming with events and activities. Expect an array of nature walks, film screenings, feasts, talks, craft and outdoor wellbeing activities to take part in.

This traditional week-long extravaganza is a key event in the Kingsbridge town calendar and as such, you will find the schedule jam-packed with live music, a road race, carnival procession, raft race, lantern parade and fireworks. The town is a hive of activity during this period, so be sure to visit regardless of where you are staying in the beautiful South Hams region.

Entering its 142nd year in 2024, this lively agricultural show takes place just outside of Kingsbridge at Borough Farm. You will find a host of entertaining events in the main ring, including motocross displays, animal shows and a range of demonstrations . Additionally, there’s also a countryside tent and food and drink marquee, where numerous local businesses serve refreshments and sell their produce. The show competitions include cattle, sheep, horses, homecraft, floral art and an array of kids’ contests.

Kick off the festive season Kingsbridge-style in 2024 with Kingsbridge Celebrates Christmas. There’s a farmer’s market on the Town Square and festive stalls along Fore Street, representing local shops and caterers as well as those from the wider region. With Santa visits, live music and even a free ice rink this is a Christmas event not to be missed.
Whether you’re looking for gift ideas, hearty street food or just a hot drink on a wintery day, be sure to pop into Kingsbridge to help you start the 2024 Christmas season in style.

How about catching a film or live screening from a leading London theatre? King’s Cinema is a small traditional picture house on Fore Street, which focuses on Hollywood blockbusters along with a range of other films and broadcasts.

When it comes to live entertainment, there are regular bands and open mic nights at the Creek’s End Inn on Squares Quay, and it’s worth looking out for other performances at various pubs in the centre. They’re mostly advertised on posters outside the respective venues, so the surest way to find out what’s on in Kingsbridge’s pubs is to walk up Fore Street at the beginning of your stay and keep an eye out – or why not visit the Tourist Information Centre on the Town Square. The Old Warehouse is also a popular music venue, boasting a year round schedule.
