Description

Oyster Cottage is a charming terraced cottage tucked away on the outskirts of Salcombe. The property, a pet-friendly Devon cottage, welcomes families, friends, and a well-behaved pet to explore the South Devon AONB. Begin your vacation with ease by parking in one of three designated parking places and walk up a lovely path to your cottage entrance. Leave your boots in the porch and be welcomed by cushioned sofas in the open-plan living/dining room; the space has been lovingly fitted with cottage-style furnishings, a smart TV, and a woodburning stove situated in a beautiful stone fireplace. Set the table for six people while the appointed chef familiarises themselves with the kitchen's amenities, which include an electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, and coffee machine. Before mounting the stairs to freshen up with a hot shower or bubble bath in the bathroom, throw your sandy towels or walking gear in the convenient washing machine. Oyster Cottage is ideal for families or friends, with three stylish beamed bedrooms; 1 King size and 1 double room with storage and white-washed stone feature walls, and a bunk bed that sleeps two. You'll have a calm, pet-friendly rear garden to dine alfresco on the patio, play with the dog, or climb the stone steps to a hidden lawn area to sit and listen to the songbirds throughout the summer months.

Wander down to Batson and take a leisurely stroll along beautiful Batson Creek into Salcombe,to discover all of your amenities, and an array of pubs, eateries, and shops. Salcombe's finest fresh crab and lobster is available daily, choose from a variety of restaurants for lunch after some retail therapy, enjoy a local gin or wine whilst you watch the boats in the estuary. Partake in a masterclass at the local gin producers and distil your own bespoke recipe. Local independant shops will tempt you with their clothes and housewares. Foodies will love the choice of treats on offer at the artisan bakeries and delicatessans. You can sample local seafood at Crab Shed, stop for pub fayre at the Victoria Inn, or shop for necessities if you prefer to stay in. The National Trust's Overbeck's Garden, and a number of golden sandy beaches along the coast, such as North or South Sands Beach, are just a few of the area's attractions. Take a coastal walk in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty for breathtaking sea vistas, plentiful wildlife, and plenty of picnic possibilities to enjoy the great outdoors. Discover many beautiful surrounding beaches such as Hope Cove, Bigbury, Thurlestone and Bantham. There's something for everyone. Book Oyster Cottage for your home-away-from-home in Devon, whether you're seeking a bustling resort, a tranquil stay or a peaceful, sandy bay.

This was the perfect holiday cottage for us.

Very comfortable and homely, and well appointed, plus in a perfect position on the outskirts of Salcombe. The country lanes that lead to it are very narrow, but not too long, and for us a price worth paying for its peaceful location.

Lovely cottage, mostly as described in the listing, though details could be added or improved a little.

The restrictions relating to dogs are only stated after booking, these could be clearly stated in the listing. The rear garden is described as terraced, but the pictures don't clearly show the steepness and small size of each terrace. This could be better described. There are also a couple of things we noted, though none were a problem for our stay. While not a problem for us, the lack of hanging storage was noticeable, but not mentioned in the listing. The picnic bench had a broken seat, and the BBQ had not been cleaned out by previous users. On the whole the cottage provided a pleasant and comfortable stay and clean and well maintained inside. The kitchen was well provided with cookware.

The cottage was presented in very good order.

The bedding and towels were all very clean. The kitchen was well prepared and overall the cottage served our needs very well.
