Gooder House

Our family enjoyed a wonderful return to Gooder House, the cottage was just as we remembered, lovely welcome pack, thank you, We were allowed to access the property early as the property had not been rented the week before which was great as we had a 2.

30 reservation at the Seahorse !! The Xmas decorations were a lovely surprise, the house is lovely and warm with wonderful views of the River Dart. Kitchen is well equipped to cook Xmas dinner with a M&S/Co-op, The fishmonger Mark Lobb and Jilly's farm shop provide delicious local produce in the town. Enjoyed cosy pubs and cosy nights in the cottage, Thank you for making our Xmas truly remarkable.

A really well thought out holiday letting, great location and access to town via steps.

Really good to have off road parking. Everything you need is available and everything finished to a high standard. Accommodation was very clean on arrival and the welcoming packs is a nice touch. Thank you. All in all a great place to stay in Dartmouth. Lots and lots to explore, literally from your front door!

Dish washer didn't work, apart from that lovley accommodation .

Gooder House is a lovely place to stay and the fact that there is an integral garage cannot be understated.

This is a very comfortable and well appointed property with a great lounge area allowing lovely views out to sea and up the river. The main bedroom is very comfortable and the en-suite shower is lovely. The kitchen is great with lots of facilities. The property is beginning to suffer from lack of maintenance with wear and tear showing throughout. the TV in the main bedroom and the dining area are suffering from virtually no TV signal and are unwatchable. The courtyard needs a lot of attention with some of the uplighting not working (these were faulty the last time we stayed here. The dishwasher on/off button is stuck in but usable. The shower room by the backdoor is showing signs of damp as is the downstairs bedroom. A big thank-you to the property owners who replaced the broken garden parasol. Please fix this place up and we may be back again for a forth visit.

A beautifully decorated, spacious and comfortable home.

Beds were all comfortable, as were living room furnishings. Lovely view from the lounge window. Kitchen was well equipped, outside space had good size table and chairs, although parasol was broken. Good size garage for one car which was extremely handy considering there is very little parking available in Dartmouth. Only problem was the dishwasher wasn’t working, I reported it to the number I was given on key collection, I was told an engineer would be out that day to have a look, which did not happen. Tried the next day again but unable to get through, so walked down to the office which was closed (Tuesday) at no time did I get any feedback. When I returned the keys I mentioned it again, the office was fully aware of the problem, it had apparently been broken for sometime and they were currently waiting for the owner to replace the dishwasher. All said and done, we had a very good holiday at Gooder House.

Gooder House was a super holiday home- beautifully furnished and clean.

Access to the property was very steep and tight for parking in the garage but overall a very good experience.

There were a few problems with some broken things - these were reported to Coast and Country.

My problem is with Sykes. The booking was great - very helpful lady etc BUT once I had paid I COULD NOT TALK TO ANYONE. Portals etc are ok but some times you need to talk to a person and there was NO PHONE NUMBER with a person on the end of it - appalling post booking service. I will never use Sykes again as there are independents in Dartmouth that I can talk to. I am in my early 70s and am good with tech but I haven’t got time for this chat rubbish. What about the people who haven’t got smart phones, aren’t tech savvy etc and to be told to get my children to sort it out is exceptionally insulting.

A lovely house in a great location.

It is on a very narrow very steep street, which may not suit everyone but it was perfect for us. Well definitely be back.

5th time at Gooder House and we absolutely love it.

Clean comfortable and everything there that you need to enjoy your stay. The kitchen is really well stocked with all the kitchen equipment you will need if you’re planning to cook and eat in. The position is great as two minutes down the hill you’re in the middle of town with shops restaurants and pubs.

Excellent property really enjoyed our stay, great location and facilities.

Kitchen well appointed, plenty of dishes, glasses etc. Couple of points for future guests, if guests are expected to put bedding and towels in black bin bags can they be provided and batteries need replacing in the automatic bin and velux remote, only 5 seat pads for outside chairs.

Fabulous property with great facilities.

Amazing views from upstairs. My fairly large Landrover Freelander fitted in garage with a few inches to spare so maybe worth mentioning a biggish car will fit. Only very minor suggestions would be to provide shower gel and kitchen roll. Would love to stay again, great location and works perfectly with 2 Labrador sized dogs. We didn’t cook but everything was provided if needed. Lovely small outside area also. Everything is of a very high quality throughout the property. Beds are very comfortable .

We had a great stay in Gooder House.

It was very nicely decorated and the kitchen was well equipped. Plenty of hot water. We were a group of 5 adults and two Labradors and there was ample room for us all. If travelling with dogs you can access the tiled kitchen & dining area via a side door and don’t have to worry about wet or sandy dogs on the carpet! The car park was large enough for an Audi A3 hatchback. The lanes up to Above Town are narrow and best approached via the Crowther Hill end and there is a turning area 30m after the house. We would certainly recommend Gooder House to others.

Stunning very clean.

Exactly how it looks on the website. Well equipped and comfortable.

Hot water didn't work, heating didn't work, no tumble dryer - so took two loads of wet clothes home with us, coffee machine didn't work, got concussion from the overhang on the way up the first flight of stairs - no warning or padding in place, scratched car on the super narrow road to property when dropping of luggage, downstairs bedroom smelled of damp.

We have stayed in Dartmouth twenty times in ten years and would never stay here again.

Supper happy and have booked again for next year. Highly recommend the place.

I discovered that the sliding door of shower room next to the back door had become detached from the runners.

The Maintenance chap tried his best but this is a job requiring the pelmet to the door to removed to rectify this and therefore we had to put up with the door being permanently open the whole 2 weeks of our holiday. It was also noticed that the door to the kitchen from the hall drags on the floor, it was like this 2 years ago! In fact most of the doors don't shut shut correctly and need some maintenance. The family bathrooms fan struggles and is either in need of a clean or the bearings worn out. The TV in the dining room and the main bedroom have only a few usable channels. They either need to be connected to the home WiFi so they can be used with streaming channels or connected to the BT TV. Despite this we really love this rental and the rest of the facilities make up for the shortfalls with the garage parking being the cherry on the bun.

Gooder house is a fabulous place to stay in Dartmouth.

It was spotless, nicely furnished and really well-equipped. The kitchen/diner and upstairs lounge are really lovely bright spaces and even though the outside space isn’t very big it gets some lovely sunshine much of the day.

A great space for families to enjoy. The kitchen was very well equipped and the beds were so comfy. Garage was very useful and it is a steep hill but the views are worth it. Would love to return. Thank you.

Gooder House, ‘Home from Home’ we love Gooder House with its central location is always lovely and clean, very welcoming, cosy, comfortable and well equipped.

The staff at Dartmouth Coast and Country Cottages are always very helpful and accommodating. Thank you again to everyone involved we have had a fantastic holiday break.

4th time at Gooder House, this time for Christmas !

Loved the Christmas trees and decorations, plus mince pies and bottle of fizz on arrival. Always feel immediately at home (I wish it was)

The property is great.

Good location, easy access down the hill into town and the garage is the clincher for us. We have stayed at Gooder House quite a few times now, in spring, summer and winter. The dodgy water supply this visit was a bit inconvenient but out of your control and the water bottles were much appreciated. The only downside was that on arrival the heating thermostat was set to 13C! We assumed the property had not been used for some time and no thought was given to making the house comfortable for us. My husband was able to adjust the thermostat but the house was freezing cold for several hours until a decent temperature was reached. The loft radiator remained cold so we had to bleed it ourselves to get heat upstairs. We would have expected the heating to have been checked before we arrived! Other than that, we had a good time.

Gooder House is delightful.

Beautifully furnished and well equipped. We were very comfortable as 6 adults and a small dog. Great position on Above Town. Have already booked again. One smallnote, the shower in the main en suite bedroom doesn't flow very effectively but it wasn't much of an inconvenience.

We stayed at the property before, but it’s starting to look tired.

We had a water leak through the garage ceiling, and the main bedroom shower packed up, there are also mould patches in the shower area.

Gooder House is an absolute gem.

The owners have done everything they can to ensure guests feel comfortable and at home. The furnishings and fittings are top quality and the interior decor is very coastal chic. This was probably the best equipped holiday property we have ever booked, all that was missing was some means of drying clothes - the airier having been sadly broken by a previous occupant. It was very difficult to leave at the end of a fabulous week in Dartmouth. Thank you for sharing your wonderful holiday home.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Gooder House.

The house itself is very well equipped & a perfect location to the town & local amenities. Loved the split levels as it meant our party of 6 wern't tripping over each other. The garage even housed our Citroen Grand C4 Picasso, despite being listed as only suitable for a small car :-) Staff on arrival were extremely pleasant & helpful. Would definitely recommend!!!!

The owners and agents were very kind and accommodating with our disruptive travel plans due to Storm Franklin.

The facilities are impressive and of good quality, making for a comfortable and relaxing stay. My husband raved about how comfortable the bed was and slept very well. The social spaces have a great flow and the house also allows for everyone to have their own privacy. I would highly recommend this property.

This was are 7th time in Gooder House and we love it.

Coming back again in March for 2 weeks. The location and the comfort of the house is amazing. It feels like we are home when we arrive every time. We can’t praise the staff in the coast and country cottages, Dartmouth office enough they are lovely so welcoming and friendly. Thank you. See you in March.

We had a fabulous stay in Gooder house it was pure luxury for us and so well equipped and beautifully furnished I did not want to come home.

The bed was extremely comfy, the house was cosy with very homely feel and the views to the river were lovely.The location was good only 5 minute walk to the shops and river. We were concerned about wether the Toyota Rav 4 would fit in the garage but it did just, in case anyone like us wondering if their car will fit, and such a bonus to have that facility. There is nothing you should need whilst staying in Gooder house its perfect. Hopefully we can stay there again one day.

Great location and quiet even though close to the town centre, garage a real plus my Range Rover evoque fitted just, anything longer may be a problem.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Dartmouth; the weather was fabulous and Gooder House was a fantastic place to stay for 3 generations of our family.

We were very impressed with Gooder House.

It has been renovated and furnished to a very high standard. It is quiet at night but only 5 minutes walk into town. The outside courtyard is a real bonus. We would highly recommend this property and will certainly stay there again. Congratulations on such a gorgeous property.

Beautiful house and so clean and welcoming. Feels like home ! Wonderful location for walking into Dartmouth for the shops and restaurants etc. My BMW X3 fitted into the garage, just ! We were a bit concerned if it would but it did. We will definitely go back next year.

Beautiful cottage perfect location.

Everything you need! So cozy and welcoming! I think the advert should mention parking is a issue. House has room for one small car. We got a parking ticket while parking outside. Overall would 100% return!

Beautiful house which is ideally located close to the centre of Dartmouth.

We were so impressed that we have immediately booked for October! Service from CC was excellent. We did not have a seagull sack which was provided within hours, excellent service! One of the tiles came loose in the main bathroom, along with a loose toilet seat but neither of which were an issue and to be expected from a holoday home.

We had made a huge error and booked the wrong dates for the property, the staff were so friendly and helpful and managed to turn the property around within 20 minutes so we could relax and enjoy our stay.

The photos of our property didn't do it justice, it was a lovely space for a much needed break. SO grateful for their help, very professional and friendly.

Garage was able to fit a Prius plus in, crucial as no parking by the house.

Practically Perfect in Every Way, We've stayed in Gooder House more times than I can remember, it is just perfect and relaxing.

Very comfortable and ideally situated for our stay in Dartmouth with lovely views over the water to Kingswear from the living room. Having the use of the garage is such a bonus because parking in Dartmouth is getting harder nowadays, Currently the property next door is being renovated and the builders are on site early in the morning (this is so they can get their trucks parked early) but they are a good group of lads who get on with the minimum amount of disturbance, Would highly recommend Gooder House for its central location, comforts and high standards.

We were very disappointed with the overall cleanliness of Gooder House on arrival.

As l informed the Coast and Country Cottages office on the next day. The whole house was covered in cob webs. The downstairs bedroom was particularly poorly cleaned. In fact I did question if it had been. There was a lump of chewing gum on the window sill, loads of cob webs and the bathroom floor was filthy. The lady in the office did offer us a re clean but by that time we had all arrived and were keen to get on with our break. I was also very disappointed that no one had seen fit to give us warning of the building work going on next door. This proved to be very disruptive on a daily basis. The builders arrived every weekday morning at 7.30 am with their radio blaring, which continued all day. When they started the drilling the noise in Gooder House was horrendous. In fact one day some plaster came off the wall in the hallway. Considering the cost of the holiday I cannot describe it as a relaxing holiday.

Third visit to this wonderful home.

It has everything we could hope for in a holiday home and a friendly community around it. Views of the sea from upstrairs. Light and airy kitchen with doors opening onto back patio. The Owners even called with a bottle of Sharpham wine. So local!

A short break and Coast and Country could accommodate our awkward dates for our convenience .

Returned to this wonderful house for a second time. Its just like home. And I can park my car in the garage and bring my dog!

This is one of the nicest places we've stayed in , down in Dartmouth.

And we've visited too many times to remember! The house is so beautifully furnished and loved and tastefully coastal. We saw the photos of the house before renovation and it now has such a clever design. Even the car fitted in the garage which was a great bonus.. As ever Dartmouth is a great place to come back to . And all the locals so friendly and welcoming , especially letting us take are little wire fox terrier everywhere with us.

Second time at this house. We love the quiet location and garage. Yet so close to the shops and restaurants. The house is beautifully decorated and very well equipped. This year we used the gas BBQ quite a few times. Looking forward to a third time.

Great cottage very comfortable, lovely location

It was our second stay at Gooder House and both times have been wonderful. The house is so homely we did not want to go home - so much so we ended up extending our stay! I would highly recommend Gooder House, it is in the perfect location with the added extra of a garage for parking. The house is beautifully decorated and very spacious. As a keen cook and baker, I enjoyed the kitchen/dining area most! The fact this property is also pet friendly is wonderful, my dog loved her stay as much as we did!

Great location providing you don't mind hills and dealing with steep narrow lanes. Great to have the garage to park in otherwise would have been difficult. House has everything you need. Could do with some redecoration in places, but that is certainly not a big issue.

Everything you coild ever wish for was in this outstanding property, well laid out, wonderful views, all equipment was of a high standard, and dog friendly, if you are thinking of staying in Dartmouth then this is the place to stay !!

A great house in the beautiful town of Dartmouth, very comfortable and airy with a gorgeous top floor lounge to take advantage of the stunning views. The garage is a real bonus in a town so tough to park in. A real find..we will be returning to Gooder House.
