Description
Harbour Cottage is just a short walk from the centre of the naval town of Dartmouth, offering restaurants, delightful boutiques, art galleries, cosy cafés, and has beautiful gardens within easy reach.
The front door opens into a spacious entrance hallway and stairs ascending to the three floors. On the first floor is a stylish open-plan living area with a luxurious corner sofa, SMART TV, books, games and wi-fi. The dining area has a large glass topped table and six chairs. The kitchen area has high quality units under a granite worksurface. The utility room is on the ground floor at the back of the garage.
Three beautifully furnished boutique-style double bedrooms are found on the second and third floors. The master bedroom, on the second floor, with a King size bed, and SMART TV. A sliding door leads into the en suite shower room, equally stylish, with a large walk-in shower cubicle. Bedroom two is on the second floor with two single beds (can be joined to provide a super-King bed on request) and SMART TV. A sliding door leads into the en suite bathroom with panelled bath with shower over. Bedroom three is on the third floor with a Double bed, SMART TV. A sliding door leads into an en suite shower room with a large walk-in shower cubicle. As well as the en suites there is a further shower room on the ground floor. A spacious garage has a roller door and automatic lighting, with internal door leading into the property.
Ideal for a coastal break, visitors can enjoy boat trips along the delightful River Dart from the nearby waterfront, whilst the beaches of Start Bay and the South Devon Coast Path are just a short drive away.

Lovely property and fantastic location.
Fabulous location with a big garage.
High spec throughout with the exception of kitchen chairs which were falling apart. Comfy beds. Three en-suite bedrooms. Handy utility room and ground floor bathroom.
Sofa has seen better days (cushions need restuffing) and dining chairs are very worn.
Beds are very comfortable. Very clean throughout. Maybe could benefit from a microwave oven in the kitchen. There is no outside space but the close proximity to everything in the town makes this no big problem. Would book this accommodation again.
Lovely place ideally located in the heart of Dartmouth.
The place is spacious and very well equipped and generally very comfortable with plenty of space for 6 adults and 2 small dogs. The mattresses and pillows are hard which didn’t suit all of us for comfort (one pregnant guest included) but I do understand that this can’t be altered to suit everyone. Wonderful to have off road parking in the centre of town. Would definitely recommend and would consider booking again. I do however wish Coast and Country Cottages hadn’t merged with Sykes, we’ve used them for years and the service was always a very personal service, we could phone up with any queries, we now have to call a call centre in another part of the world and it spoils the experience as they do not have the personal touch or property knowledge we loved with C&C.

Everything is of high standard & comfortable.
However there was no instructions for opening the garage door or for the ovens, hob, coffee machine, airfrier, TV, heating etc Also, we think that a microwave would be useful As per a previous Review, the heated towel radiator wasn't working, & neither was the bathroom fan It would also suit guests better if there was a keysafe, as 2 keys isn't enough for 6 people as we're not always out & about together

Only slight problem was that we couldn't get the heated towel rails to heat up.

Very well presented. Ideal location with harbour, restaurants and shops right on you're doorstep. Big garage with plenty of space. Very comfortable beds and large showers with great water pressure. We had three separate couples in our party with plenty of space for all of us. Would definitely stay again and recommend to other's.
super apartment, well appointed and spacious, plenty of appliances, pots , pans etc , and the garage was spacious, our Volvo XC90 fitted in without any problem.
just needed some instructions on using the heating settings, and there were no spare black plastic bags for rubbish, or for putting the bedding in as per instructions Other than this, no issues at all, would highly recommend this apartment
Great location and the garage was a huge benefit.
We thought it was expansive for a two night stay. The apartment was very well maintained and clean. Mould on the sealant in the twin bedroom and the shower screen seal could do with replacing. There needs to be a doorstop on the floor to stop the bedroom door banging against the mirror wardrobe. Great layout lounge diner and well equipped kitchen. Very comfortable sofa. Amazing beds so so comfortable. The owner needs to replace the pillows. We will defiantly book again.
The location is excellent and the property is well appointed and clean.
Good range of kitchen equipment although no microwave. Bedding is good quality and showers are excellent. The property has 4 levels so there are a lot of stairs! Garage parking space was very useful. Our only concern is that for 3 adult couples the shared lounge area is snug but we accept that we had to sacrifice space for a central location.
Harbour cottage is a lovely comfortable house.
It had everything we needed for our stay. A perfect location in Dartmouth and the garage is an amazing bonus.

Having the garage was so good and was very spacious for a reasonably large car. Volvo XC 40 we would love to stay here again.
Had a fantastic week in Dartmouth.
The property was so well equipped that there was no cupboard space to put any groceries! I have never seen so much cutlery! The house was perfectly located, easy to get in and out of the garage and really comfortable, the showers were all good and the beds great. The fridge wasn’t very cold, might need looking at and another fan would be useful as the top bedroom was particularly hot. Would definitely go back. Lovely place and lovely people.
The stay was fantastic, the property is finished to a high standard and was really comfortable, fantastic location.
Third booking at this property and although the property itself suits our needs very well it will be our last.
Two of our seven evenings were spoiled by extremely loud music from the bar opposite! It was just yards away and might just as well have been in our lounge, it stopped at midnight,conversation impossible throughout! Reception at coast and country was also far from friendly from one of the older staff .

I'm so sorry that on this occasion, you were disturbed by a neighbour's noise and you experienced some unfriendly behaviour. I will drop you a note personally and also contact the letting agency, as we take these types of things very seriously. That aside, I truly hope that you were able to enjoy all that Dartmouth had to offer. For me, it never disappoints - the sea, the food, the boats going in and out - just a little piece of heaven. Firstly, in relation to the staff at Coast and Country - really helpful and friendly.
In relation to the house, cannot fault the location - the town centre is on the doorstep. No issues with parking. The house is on a one-way street and we were able to park up without issue to unload before taking the roof box off the car to fit in the garage. Just downgraded slightly for comfort as the bed was too hard for my liking - but I understand it is impossible to get a mattress to suit everybody. The house is deceptively spacious and well equipped.

I wonder which room you slept in? Great time to visit Dartmouth (November), not as busy as the summer months, so no queues and easy access to everywhere.
Great to have the garage (parked a SEAT Alhambra with no problem). Each bedroom having its owns bathroom was good as well. The beds were comfortable.

Clean and comfortable, modern styling with a good position near to the harbour side and all its restaurants and shops.
It has a garage which our camper van couldn’t fit into due to the height but this would be useful if you have a normal car as the parking availability in Dartmouth is restricted to 1 or 2 hours and 4 hours in the town car park. Fully recommend the property.
Thanks so much for your glowing recommendation of our lovely Harbour Cottage. Dartmouth really is a very special place and as you mentioned, being in the thick of it is a real treat! I'm sorry your camper wouldn't fit in the garage. Did you measure it? It might be worth it next time - our friends have an older style Discovery which we were convinced wouldn't fit and amazingly it did. I think the garage is taller than people think - however, I certainly wouldn't want you to scratch your roof. If you come back, do ask our agents, Coast and Country to measure it for you. We were absolutely thrilled with this property for our family of 6 (three generations and one dog).
Beautifully refurbished luxurious house and with the added bonus of a perfect location 2 minutes from waterfront and with a garage with plenty of room for paddle boards, bike etc. that my nephew brought with him. Even a little office area for some work for those that needed to plug in laptops. Everything you could possibly want for a stay in this magical town of Dartmouth. Thank you.

We have tried very hard to make it exactly as you describe - a 'beautifully refurbished luxurious house' - and yes the garage and central, in-town location are a real bonus. The paddle boarding sounds like fun so I'm glad your nephew enjoyed that - I do hope he had a wetsuit to keep out the chill! And for those that had to do a bit of work, it's not a bad little desk isn't it, so I hope those hours passed quickly and you were able to get back to being in beautiful Dartmouth and on holiday. There is a small leak in the bedroom bathroom on the 2nd floor. Also the electric garage mechanism isn't working so we had to manually hold it open whilst we entered and exited the garage. Other than that - 10/10 - recommended!

We are so grateful for your positive review for Harbour Cottage. Indeed, I'm not sure we could be blessed with a better location. We also appreciate you noting the comfort which we try hard to have everywhere in the house and very much look forward to welcoming you back one day.
The property is very modern, well appointed and we had ample space for our stay.
Its location near to the waterfront is good and the provision of a garage is extremely useful. Unfortunately, there were several times that the garage was blocked by the angling club and upholstery shop. Whilst we were able to manuever our vehicle into the garage or get the offending vehicle moved it was off putting, especially when arriving back late and having to negotiate the gap with an inch to spare. The businesses opposite weren’t the only annoying neighbours. The seagulls were extremely loud, particularly in the top floor bedroom which has a velux window that they regularly marched across. It led for most nights being disturbed in the early hours. Those negatives aside, this property is really well equipped and should be considered for its location alone. A couple of improvements I would suggest are the provision of some basic cleaning products like bleach and anti-bac (this is possibly the first I’ve stayed in that didn’t have these) and frosting on the bathroom windows facing the street, which otherwise require blinds down and lights on (the rear bathroom is frosted). I would consider a future stay and recommend to others.

Very nicely appointed rental.
Plenty of SMART TVs everywhere. And a bathroom to every bedroom. We were a party of 2 grandparents, 2 parents and two young children and there was plenty of space. No scenic views as on a side street, which was quiet (except for the fledgling seaguls at 5 a.m.) while we were there. Very short walk to quayside and shops. The other thing to note is the flight of stairs which are quite tight in places...and 39 steps from the hall to the top bedroom.

We decided to go to the music festival in Dartmouth with only a week to go, we were surprised to find that such a nice looking property had not been booked and with a garage as well.
On arrival we were not disappointed, what a lovely house in the middle of Town. Clean, modern and with all the facilities you require. We would definitely like to come again.

The property is exceptional and the owners have done a superb job on upgrading the property. Attention to detail is another level. It has everything anyone could want and then some more. Stunning bathrooms and furnishings. The kitchen only contained the very best appliances. I can honestly say the photos don't do it justice. We loved our stay so much 5 stars isn't enough. Thanks you

We have stayed at Harbour Cottage 3 times now, which shows that we really enjoy staying at the property.
The location is superb and having a garage is great. Our main feedback: The staff in the Dartmouth Coast & Country office are brilliant. They are very friendly, helpful and professional. They have done a great job with our all our bookings and nothing is too much trouble. The property was spotless on arrival and we welcome some of the small changes/improvements that have been made. The property is very comfortable and well equipped and as already stated, the location is brilliant. Just a constructive comment: The heating is not the easiest to set. We are aware that others have stated this but we've found it OK after reading the instruction booklet provided. We have really enjoyed all our stays at Harbour Cottage and look forward to more in the future. Many thanks Jane & Bryan Allen

The house was dirty - oven and trays were greasy and disgusting.
Generally, there was dust accumulating in various areas, dirty and stained glass dining table and bedside tables. Not up to our expectations at all especially given the fee for the week. The house has been refurbished to a good standard but let down by poor cleaning standards. Privacy is an issue as bathrooms don’t have frosted windows. My wife will probably add her own review at some point….

Our cleaners work exceptionally hard throughout the whole season and occasionally of course, something does get missed. We have spoken with our cleaning company and asked them to address these concerns specifically. We appreciate your comments about the high standard of refurbishment of the property as we've spent many happy hours choosing furnishings that we hope reflect a beautiful 5 star beach home. We absolutely loved the quality of everything-especially the stair carpet and sensor lights!
We really appreciated the themed rooms with the Bert and Buoy throws and pictures too . Everything was excellent and the position of Harbour Cottage was perfect for us. Just one point to note ; the house can be very warm and we noticed the towel rails were on during the night but didn’t know how to adjust them. Thank you SO much for a wonderful holiday experience.
We just wanted to acknowledge and thank you for your extremely kind feedback. And I especially love you noticing the investment we made in the theming of the rooms (seal, seagull and puffin) from Bert and Buoy! (I had a lot of fun doing that earlier this year). Thank you also for bringing to our attention it was still very warm in the house. Whereas I'm delighted our guests aren't frozen, I do appreciate being too hot can also be frustrating too. Really lovely property in a great location for access to the town, and a good sized garage, which was a high priority for us.
Why not 5 stars in all areas? Well the bedrooms were extremely hot with no fans provided which meant windows had to be opened, so on the nights the angling club had socials, it was noisy and people chatting outside the entrance meant no sleep. It was a week of pleasant summer weather, not the extreme hot weather the country experienced the week or so after our stay. And then of course, the seagulls started at 4 am. Probably would have been fine if we’d been able to have the windows closed. Also the stairs and the top floor floorboards creaky enough to wake anyone trying to sleep on the second floor. Also, lovely kitchen with everything you could want - unless you want a microwave - just a minor thing though. Overall we did have a lovely week in a lovely, good quality holiday home - but the whole family were weary the whole time from the sleep problems.

One small thing of note is that there IS a microwave - it's situated within the small over and has a specific setting to use it as such. House and position in town first class.
Glass dining table we could write our names on, needed a proper clean. Mouldy coffee grounds in the coffee maker, cutlery left in the dishwasher. Generally a bit dusty in corners. I did show photos to the lady in the Coast and country office. When we arrived we were told there was a new broadband system and given a new password, we connected to the router but there was no internet connection and therefore no smart tv just the basic channels. This was finally connected on Thursday. As we have another holiday booked with your company at the end of the month we are hoping it will be cleaner.

In addition, the router had been upgraded so I'm sure it was frustrating to not have the Smart TV connected for part of your stay. Our stay in Harbour cottage was a real treat.
The house had absolutely everything we needed, was clean, and perfectly situated in the centre of Dartmouth. Having the garage was super handy as we didn’t have to worry about parking. Picking up and dropping off keys was also pain-free. The only issue we had was the house was so hot and we couldn’t seem to be able to change the central heating settings (even with the manual). Perhaps an ‘idiot guide’ would be helpful. But other than that, the house was perfect. Hope to stay there again next year.

The cottage was better than expected, it was spacious and immaculate.
The location was superb, car not needed as everything was on our doorstep. The Sykes team were excellent, friendly, helpful and very professional.

This is our second visit to Harbour Cottage so you can tell we really like it.
Just a couple of observations this time. The sink in the bathroom at the top of the house was not draining at all. I unscrewed the plug and found it was fully clogged with hair. An unpleasant job I had to do on day one! Kitchen well stocked but I would add a pair of tongs to the equipment. The heating was very complicated to understand and no matter what we did we ended up having to open windows whilst the heating was on (not very eco friendly) ..perhaps a step by step "idiots guide" would help as the booklet was very difficult to follow. The location of the property is second to none and having off street parking a real bonus in Dartmouth. The welcome cleaning pack was an added bonus but could we suggest more than one black sack be incuded especially as the booklet in the house asked that all bedding and towels are placed in black sacks on departure and all rubbish should be in black bags before being placed in the seagull proof bags. However these are small observations in an otherwise excellent house.

In addition we've added some more useful kitchen items, like a kitchen DAB radio/bluetooth speaker, kitchen roll holder - and a bumper stack of bin liners!
