The Old Wash House

When we arrived we were disappointed to find a very dusty kitchen floor, the door mat inside had snail trails on it , it obviously hadn’t been hoovered that morning, I would say the property needs a lick of paint and a good spring clean by someone who cares .

Apart from that it’s a nice place in a perfect location.

The loveliest place to stay in beautiful Dartmouth.

Immaculately and thoughtfully presented. The cosiest place to retreat to each evening. Offers a parking space which is incredible. Our 2nd visit and planning our 3rd! Such a perfect spot.

We had another fantastic week at The Old Wash House!

It’s truly a home-from-home: it’s well appointed, clean and cared for, with comfortable furniture and lovely decorative touches (we were welcomed with an autumnal theme). We had gorgeous weather but, having visited the cottage all year round, we know TOWH is the best base from which to explore Dartmouth and beyond (the car parking space is a rarity in the town and such a bonus). Thank you, once again, to the Wright Crew!

Great property just a 10 minute flat walk to the town.

The car parking space is small (shared with next door) but an added bonus in Dartmouth as parking is at a premium. TOWH is well appointed to a high standard, very clean and we didn’t want for anything being self catering. High quality fixtures and fittings, beds were really comfortable with lovely bedding. Thank you for the goodies on arrival, nice touch. Upstairs is rather warm (good heating if required) even at this time of year so a lower tog duvet might’ve been better for a less stuffy nights sleep. We did open the windows and there is a fan supplied. Oven gloves would’ve been helpful too as constructive feedback, just a minor point. Loved our stay, thank you!

We enjoyed our stay in Dartmouth.

Ideal position on the flat with a short walk to the town. With a parking place for a medium car and electric charger. The wash house has everything you need. We had a query for the owner who responded very quickly.

Couple of notes for the owners ….

the outside courtyard on arrival was dirty and the outdoor rug is old and tatty and does not fit the area so it’s constantly rucked up (not like in the picture on your website). I had to clean the outside table and the rug itself should have been hoovered or swept at least and straightened Three of the outside cushions were wet (with what I don’t know). A bit more money could be spent (considering the cost of the Cottage for a week) on the outdoor sofa set - a better quality one would be great - the cushions are slippery and slide off the sofas when u sit on them. None of the outdoor fairly lights (which is a perfect idea) seem to work - only the main outdoor lights. There were dirty baking pans in the oven which I had to clean.

The property was great. Fantastic location. Very well equipped and televisions in all rooms worked well. Two complaints. There is a lot of noise between the neighbouring property. We were woken every morning quite early by the young children next door. Also we had a problem with the bathroom which was fixed promptly by the maintenance team, however we couldn’t use that bathroom for 24 hours and all five of us had to use our en-suite. I am disappointed not to have had any follow up from Sykes nor any apology for the inconvenience.

Lovely cottage - all mod cons.

Only downside was the family occupying the house next door. Very noisy first thing in the morning banging up and down the stairs (which are located over the stairs in TOWH) and on the top floor (located over the main ensuite bedroom). Also the parking space is VERY small!

The house was exactly as you had described it.

Thoroughly enjoyed the stay, super equipped kitchen and extremely comfortable beds! Loved the LED lighting in the showers. It was the best rental we have stayed in round Dartmouth and we’ll definitely be coming again

We had an amazing stay at The Old Wash House in beautiful Dartmouth!

We love the town and have been visiting it for many decades. On this occasion we had the best time celebrating my special birthday! TOWH was not only very comfortable but a great find & had everything we could possibly need. It was perfectly situated with easy access for exploring the town & the local area and had a lovely outside space with a pretty courtyard garden & a car space too! There’s so much history attached to the property & it was interesting to see find out more about it in the fab little town museum! Many thanks for a wonderful stay & we would love to return to TOWH some day!

Beautiful cottage ,very comfortable,has everything you need and more.

Only issue is the parking space is a bit tight for today's bigger cars,but we realize it cannot be altered.

This was our third stay in The Old Wash House.

It is brilliantly appointed, clean, and comfortable. The owners take a real pride in upkeep and their love for their house shows. The property is a convenient, level walk into Dartmouth and the car parking space is a real bonus. We had a wonderful week.

Lovely cottage, great location with the benefit of parking.

The property is in a great location and really lovely and cozy.

It was very well equipped and we loved the digital showers and LED lights. The dogs loved the built in dog house and the huge tin of dog treats! Would certainly recommend!

Fabulous comfortable cottage with everything and more you could possibly need.

It’s also in very easy access to the town.My only small issue,is the parking a real bonus,,it’s best for a small car,a bigger car needs careful parking to consider the car next door.

The Old Washouse was in a perfect location for accessing everything Dartmouth has to offer.

The property had everything to make the week comfortable and parking was not a problem.

The facilities were exceptional and the welcome with all the little extras gratefully received. The information folders were very useful and the hosts had obviously thought carefully about their customers needs. Many thanks for providing a superb place to stay and we would recommend it to all.

Our second visit to the Old Wash House.

Lovely accommodation which contains all the essentials plus more. Ideally situated for Dartmouth with the benefit of parking. Would definitely recommend.

The cottage is beautiful and tastefully done .

It’s our second stay and appreciated the treats left for us . Lovely outside courtyard which we enjoyed later in the evening as we were blessed with good weather and warm evenings. Only thing that needs addressing is the outside seating is looking tired now , but generally the whole house is very stylish and well maintained. Games console upstairs and lots of games and information about the resort in the cupboard. The house has a small parking space which is a bonus and is on the flat which is another onus . Just a 5 minute stroll to the centre. Would definitely stay again .

The cottage and location were pretty perfect.

Everything in the property was well thought out and we all loved our time there. With great weather, we spent a lot of time in the lovely courtyard. The only thing we thought could be improved was the outdoor furniture which has seen better days. Most of the seats are starting to sag and one of the sofas in particular was bent in at the end meaning the seat on top didn’t sit right and the cushions kept sliding off.

The house is beautiful and very comfortable.

It’s home from home. Once there you don’t want to leave. Comfy beds. Lovely outside space and parking. It’s an absolute delight. 10/10. Highly recommend.

Very well equipped and comfortable property in a very accessible location for the town centre.

Could have done with one or two medium sized saucepans- they were too big or too small, but only a minor quibble.

Beautiful cottage in a beautiful place.

Felt like luxury, not a thing I would recommend to change and dogs loved it too. Parking and enclosed garden was a real bonus as parking looked horrendous on busy days. Thank you for an amazing holiday. We will be back.

Lovely cottage with fabulous facilities in a central location.

The cottage had everything you would need for a short stay and it instantly felt like a home from home. It was clean, comfortable and we loved the courtyard garden for lounging with a drink after a day out exploring. The car parking space was a bonus as parking in Dartmouth looked horrendous

The Old Wash House is such a beautiful cottage.

It was equipped with everything you could possibly wish for. Beds were so comfortable and the shower is just luxury on earth. Our dogs absolutely loved their "Dog House" and especially the abundance of treats the were supplied. We will certainly return.

Parking spot is a big plus as parking in town is difficult.

A second stay at The Old Wash House in beautiful Dartmouth.

Lovely, comfortable and very well-equipped cottage. Delicious welcome wine and fudge (we bought some Roly's fudge to bring home as it was so yummy). The location is great and the information provided by the owners is also very helpful. We would definitely recommend this property.

What's not to like ?

This must be the best-appointed rental property in the UK - quite amazing. Also characterful and within easy reach of the front. So nice to come into a place where the basics have been provided, e.g. plenty of tabs for the dishwasher, etc. All it lacked was a cosy for the teapot !

Our third stay at The Old Wash House.

As ever we had a great stay. Not short of anything we needed. The freezer was so useful during the heat wave, we could keep plenty of ice and lollies. The courtyard is brilliant for sitting out and we used it everyday. It does get very hot 36 degrees according to the helpful thermometer and it might be useful to have some seating in the shadier part of the outside space. We are gutted that we won’t be staying again next year as we don’t need a property as big as The Old Wash House as there will just be 2 of use plus the dogs. Thank you again for a lovely stay.

I would like to share a big thank you to the owners of their cottage.

It is the second time we have stayed in their home. A really relaxing cottage with everything thoughtout so well. I just love the showers..a complete treat as we are renovating our 16 Century house at the moment. The kitchen has everything you need and televisions everywhere are a treat. A big thank you to Country Cottages too..well organised and easy to work with. I truly recommend the Cottage and company. Linda Atkins

Perfect, just perfect!

Maybe a bit more info needed for the hot water and heating and the TVs need auto retuning to get the channels available…very minor but overall a gorgeous home two min walk away from the centre.

We loved The Old Wash House and Dartmouth.

Excellent location and lovely property, everything you could need to self-cater is provided and the courtyard was wonderful in the sunny weather. Short walk on the flat to the riverside and many restaurants. Highly recommend.

This is the second time we’ve stayed at The Old Wash House and yet again we have had a lovely stay.

Everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The showers are a particular highlight. Beds are comfortable and we all slept really well. The smart TVs in every room are also a fantastic addition for bad weather days on when it’s the Wimbledon final and it’s lunch time. All in all a great stay and we booked for next year before we left.

This was our 2nd stay at The Old Wash House.

The house is a 5 minute walk into Dartmouth was clean and had everything you needed. Car parking space is a bonus for Dartmouth and the house allows dogs too. We would have no hesitation in recommending TOWH.

The cottage was lovely, kitchen was fully equipped, every room had a smart TV, and the Christmas decorations added a really nice touch.

We also had a card, prosecco and chocolates left out for us. We were blown away, it was a lovely gesture.

The house has everything you could possibly need and was in a great position in Dartmouth, with the added bonus of having a parking space!

It was very comfortable and we didn’t really want to leave.

Everything provided we could not ask for more.

One of the best we have stayed in. Would have no hesitation in recommending The Old Wash House.

Not only were we impressed with the whole booking process but also when arriving/staying at The Old Wash House we loved the accommodation which was very modern (even though a Grade II listed building), well equipped and comfortable!

The location was also perfect for getting around Dartmouth itself but also travelling around the South Coast of Devon plus having a designate parking space at the rear of the property was a real bonus. Can honestly say that it made our first trip to Dartmouth a memorable one - such a lovely town - especially as we were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary! The "Wright Crew" can be proud of their little gem!

Having stayed in many holiday cottages I think this is among one of the best.

The cottage is very comfortable and extremely well equipped - they have thought of everything. The house was lovely and warm when we arrived and a complimentary bottle of Prosecco was a very welcome touch. The location is ideal and an off road parking space is a luxury in Dartmouth. I would not hesitate to recommend this property and could be very tempted to stay there again. Thank you for making our break extra enjoyable.

Spent a week in The Old Wash house, it’s a lovely 3 bed property which is extremely well equipped, very comfortable beds and fabulous bathrooms, we all loved the showers, our son loved the lighting!

Well set up for dogs, you can secure them in the court yard if wish to. We did manage to sit out one eve for a short time, weather was great for October! The house is in a great location for a easy walk into town, a small parking space is a bonus! We would definitely return to the Old Wash House.

The Old Wash House in Dartmouth is a beautiful property.

Perfect location for getting into town and it’s a flat walk. We also had parking which is always a bonus. Everything was just about thought of in the house, if they had put clothes in the wardrobes don’t think we would have needed anything. The showers were amazing and the smart TVs a real bonus it meant we could sign into all our steaming services, Netflix, Prime and Now as well having all the catch up services. The courtyard was lovely sit out, once we found the cushions doh! a tiny niggle would be that it’s not secure for the dogs and we quickly learned you have to tie them up or hold their lead to avoid an escape. The third bedroom is up in the eves and isn’t really suitable for anyone older than a teenager, which was fine in our case as that was who was using it. Because of its location that bedroom was also very hot but there is a fan which helped. All in all a great stay and we would come back.

It’s well appointed, clean, and comfortable and in a super location for strolling into Dartmouth. Having car parking was a real bonus, and the sun-trap courtyard was a lovely space. Thanks for accommodating our three Border Terriers - they appreciated the blankets and the biccies. We’ve stayed in Dartmouth many times over the years, and by far this house was our favourite.

We had a fantastic stay at The Old Wash House.

It was beautifully decorated and furnished and immaculately clean. The location was perfect and it was great having the private parking space. Really good service from Coast and Country Cottages too. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.

Lovely clean and comfortable accommodation within a few minutes stroll of the town.

Gas fire gave the lounge a really cosy feel for those chillier evenings. Altogether a really enjoyable stay.

It is in a lovely position, in walking distance to town and the Castle. Great facilities, clean and comfortable. Scaffolding didn’t really cause a problem and the man working on the next door house was very friendly. Little sitting out area would be lovely in the summer months. Booking was very easy.

Lovely cottage, all good quality facilities required as promised and clean and comfortable.

The gas fired wood burner in the living room was great, no mess and easy to use and made the room cosy. Great location just a short walk on the level to town. Only comments would be that the courtyard area was not dog proof which was not an issue for us visiting in November as we did not use the courtyard to sit outside but in the summer this would be more awkward as the dog would have to be on a lead when outside. Don't know how this could be addressed though with the parking spot which is a big plus in Dartmouth where parking is difficult. Overall, really enjoyed our stay. Thanks
