“Overall the property is lovely, well equipped and clean, other than the BBQ being unusable as it was so dirty.”
I'd say the listing didn't meet our expectations on a couple of major points.
Firstly, while the property is technically walking distance to the beach, the main road is unsafe to walk along, particularly with children and the walking path isn't easily accessible or child friendly. We were under the impression we would be able to walk to the beach, however the reality is we had to drive as it was the only feasible and safe way to get the children there.
Secondly, the ensuite shower was unusable despite being told it was safe to use before arrival. Thankfully it was an adult that tried the door as glass was then scattered on the floor, had this been one of the children it would have been very unsafe. The issue was known prior to our arrival and took a week to fix. We were offered a £100 refund but having paid almost £2,500 for the property this felt disproportionate as we only had 1 shower to use between 8. Had we known this on booking we wouldn't have booked this accommodation.

We are really sorry for the problems with the ensuite shower screen. We found out that the glass in the shower screen had spontaneously shattered in the week before you were due to arrive. We sourced a replacement screen immediately and had made arrangements for it to be replaced on the Wednesday before you arrived. Unfortunately, due to circumstances out of our control, the plumber was not able to do this and it was not fitted until the Tuesday after you arrived. Whilst there were two other bathrooms (one with a separate shower cubicle and the other with a shower over the bath) you could use, we appreciate that it was not ideal for you to be unable to use this shower for half of your stay. We did make an allowance for the days you were left without this shower and did our very best to get the new screen fitted as soon as we possibly could.
The barbeque had been left dirty by previous guests and should have been picked up but we understand that Coast and Country were very quick to respond and made arrangements for it to be cleaned as soon as you raised the issue with them.
As far as the walk to the beach is concerned, we do of course welcome your feedback. We and other guests walk along the road to the beach with young children and pets but if guests are not happy doing this there is also a lovely public footpath which starts opposite the property (behind the church) and gets you to the beach within 20 minutes.
