The property

Higher Gitcombe Lodge is a charming, first-floor apartment near Cornworthy, Devon, close to Totnes.

The apartment is an annexe within the grounds of the owner's property with contemporary, open-plan living for two guests to spend quality time in the countryside.

Before taking the steps up to your holiday home, find an off-road parking spot on the gravelled driveway.

Take in the views of the neighbouring hills and farms from the balcony and step inside to find a stunning, open-plan living space.

The well-equipped kitchen is nestled away in the corner with an electric oven and hob, toaster and kettle to prepare home-cooked meals, as well as a dishwasher to clean up fast and get back to your vacation.

During the day, plenty of light flows into the thoughtfully decorated room through the Velux windows, with dining seating for two to plan your activities over a hot cup of coffee and breakfast.

On sunny evenings, open the French doors and enjoy a glass of wine on your private terrace or in the hot tub as the sun sets.

As the evening progresses, sink into the sofa in the sitting room and choose from the DVD collection for your evening entertainment.

A large, super-king-size bedroom awaits you to rest up for the day ahead; store your belongings in the ample storage space and spend slow mornings watching TV from under the sheets.

Step onto the en-suite bathroom's underfloor heating, which is tastefully decorated with grey tones, an egg-shaped bath, and a large walk-in shower, as well as twin basins and a heated towel rail for enhanced comfort.

When you're ready to go out, head into Cornworthy for a meal at The Hunters Lodge Inn, or continue on to Totnes for a variety of attractions and amenities.

Stroll down the picture-perfect Fore Street lined with quirky stores, pick up local produce at the weekly Elizabethan market, while history buffs should pay a visit to Totnes Castle and the town's museum.

Alternatively take the short drive to Dartmouth, where you can marvel at the many historic sites, such as Bayard's Cove Fort and Dartmouth Castle, or rent a boat to sail around the gorgeous harbour.

Sugary Cove Beach and Compass Cove Beach, located along the coast of Little Dartmouth, offer amazing sea vistas and lovely harbours or further along is the Blue Flag awarded Blackpool Sands.

Choose Higher Gitcombe Lodge for a truly relaxing getaway.

About the location

Totnes 12 miles.

Dartmouth lies on the banks of the beautiful River Dart estuary in the popular and picturesque South Hams area of South Devon. Located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the coast, Dartmouth is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Devon. It offers a stunning waterfront, ancient narrow streets lined with boutique shops, restaurants and art galleries plus many local events such as the annual Dart Music Festival and the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta, along with the Dartmouth Food Festival held every October. There are many interesting cycling and walking routes around Dartmouth, including the South West Coast Path, the Dart Valley Trail and plenty of quiet country lanes. A trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway through picturesque countryside to Paignton is a must, and so is a boat trip across to Kingswear and on to Brixham, a pretty little harbour town. For those seeking some beach activities, there is a wide choice in the South Hams area such as Blue Flag Award winner Blackpool Sands, and Slapton Sands, both extremely popular and just a stone's throw from Dartmouth. A relaxing location in South Devon.
