5 Keeper's Cottage, Hillfield

We have stayed twice in this complex of cottages and have had a wonderful stay both times.

The cottages are comfortable and well equipped. On site there is a tennis court and kids playground. The location is great, only ten minutes or so from Dartmouth and a handful of minutes from the nearest supermarket. We have used it as a base to visit Plymouth, Torquay, Exeter, Paignton Zoo and Brixham. Dartmoor is also easily in reach.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful little cottage with quick and easy access to Dartmouth and beyond. Clean, bright and warm. Excellent kitchen equipment. Dripping tap was annoying especially for those sleeping on the mezzanine. Would be useful to have an attachment on the wall for the shower in the downstairs ensuite. Some instructions for using the stable door bolt would have saved us a lot of panic when we were on our way out and couldn't work out how to lock it back into position.

Disappointed at no welcome pack, especially as no shops nearby.

View to front obscured by steamed up window. TV small and in strange location. Accommodation was clean annd well equipped , jacuzzi bath was a nice touch.

The cottage is beautiful and we had everything we needed thank you.

There was a storm while we were there and the water came in under the door soaking the door mat and making everything muddy but all was OK, we were cozy.

The cottage was very well presented in general.

The cleanliness in the lounge floor area could have been better but overall was good. The facilities in the cottage Wi Fi television etc were good. Previous occupants had reported a problem with the toilet flush this had not been fixed we reported it again and it was dealt with. So an enjoyable stay since we like the Dartmouth area. This was our third visit to Hillfield Village first stay in this cottage. The last was two years ago since then there has been a general decline in overall standards of the village possibly due to the fact it was all up for sale and I noted along with a number of the cottage's which is a shame because it is a nice location.

We love the holiday complex.

It's peaceful and nicely set up. However there were mice droppings upstairs and a high chair had been put away dirty and it had mouse dropping on the tray. The plate was missing from the microwave making it hard to use, and the toilet flush packed up while we were there. Standard has dropped since we came last year. Lovely place to holiday, but needs closer oversight

Very well presented holiday cottage with everything needed for a comfortable stay.

We hope to be back next year.

The property is situated in a lovely valley, with good gardens and outdoor space for children.

it's initial appearance on arrival is very welcoming. However the property would benefit for some TLC, it needs a good clean and is in need of a lick of paint and batteries putting in appliances (clocks / TV remotes). We did though have a lovely stay though, the property is well equipped and is very comfortable, however it would be worth noting that property does not have Wi-fi, this was an issue when trying look things up or to book activities / trips.

As for nr 4 Keepers Cottage which we stayed in two years ago, the wall cup’ds in the kitchen area are at the wrong height!

..they might look very stylish but when a cup’d door is open the lower corner is likely to cause a facial injury! On a separate note we were not able to return the key to the key safe on our departure. The key fob is simply too long! We were obliged to return the key to key box at the ‘office’ ( which was a wooden shed).

Loved the property.

Comfortable and well furnished accommodation in excellent surroundings

Fantastic holiday with a beautiful view the accommodation ad everything u needed and was so cosy would definitely come back .

Fantastic accommodation with surrounding area being peaceful and pleasant.

Very well thought out out site and plenty of places to visit within an hour's drive. Only downside was I inherently hid the two way switch for the mezzanine due to my clothes being hung on the coat hooks. Perhaps move the rack to the other side of the mezzanine? I had to switch on the table lamp every evening before returning down the stairs to switch off main light. My fault, but did not occur to me on arrival, although I still feel the coat hook rack is wrongly positioned especially as it acts as a wardrobe. Very accommodating and converted upstairs mezzanine to an extremely comfortable double bed ( think it was King size). Hope to return.

Overall very happy with cottage, clean and well equipped, but disappointed with lack of bedroom storage space and missing dining chairs, benches unsuitable.

We would definitely recommend 5 keepers cottage .

It’s furnished nicely , lovely bedding , very quiet area . Nothing to fault , a garden umbrella for table and chairs Would of been nice as weather was good . We very much enjoyed our stay . Jo .

Lovely accommodation and great location

Amazing property with everything we needed.

Everything was great.

Lovely cottage, had everything we needed and nice and clean.

Such a beautiful little cottage on a gorgeous site.

The cottage is so clean and has everything needed. Check in and check out was so easy and staff were friendly happy to help. We will definitely book again!

we both loved staying in the hillfield village.

the only improvement to 5 keepers cottage would be a parasol with the outside furniture '

Excellent little property on a lovely quiet holiday village.

Handy for both parking in Dartmouth (limited to 4 hours in summer) and park and ride near Dartmouth Leisure Centre (would recommend you install the RinGo parking app) machines frequently refuse coins. Keep a supply of 20p pieces for toilets although credit/debit cards accepted. Sainsburys not too far away as is Best Western Hotel at Dartmouth Golf Club where we enjoyed a lovely evening meal.

Absolutely great stay, would recommend to anyone,

Beautiful location, ultra clean property.

Well equipped, I’m sure we’ll be back.

The property was exactly as described - beautifully presented and very clean, with all the 'mod cons'.

The young lady at the site Reception ('Erica') was kind, understanding and flexible - allowing us to collect the property key from a secure location, when we knew we would not be able to check in at the suggested time. We also received a couple of courtesy calls from her, to check if we'd arrived ok, and if we needed anything. Furthermore, she called me promptly, when housekeeping staff realised I'd left my raincoat in the cupboard - it had been such glorious weather, I completely forgot about it!! Such a pretty location too! A great stay - thank you!

Extremely clean and comfortable cottage.

The village could do with an on onsite bar or cafe. Roads leading to main roads nearby are challenging. A great location for the beautiful surrounding areas to visit.

What a perfect cottage and perfect location to explore South Devon….

the cottage was super clean with excellent facilities and Hillfield Village is beautiful and picturesque! Staff were amazing and even a complimentary bottle of wine upon arrival…We will definitely be back!

Property was fantastic spotlessly clean in very quiet location everything you would need and more from a holiday property.

Complementary bottle of wine was a lovely touch. I would recommend this property to anyone. Will be booking again

This was a lovely little cottage in a very well maintained development.

The cottage was exceptionally clean and tidy throughout and maintained to a high standard. The bottle of wine on arrival was a nice touch and lovely surprise. It is in a great location just a couple of miles outside of Dartmouth. Will definitely be coming back and would definitely recommend to friends and family.

Perfect location can't wait to come back

I stayed at 5 Sykes Cottages for 4 nights, with my wife and two young children.

Firstly the cottage was very comfortable, clean and in a very quiet location. There was building work opposite going on during our stay, but the builders were very considerate and didn’t start early or finish late. In a good location, 5 minutes drive to Sainsbury’s or Lidl and also the park and ride if you want to go into the stunning Dartmouth for the day. Would recommend Blackpool Sands beach which is 10 to 15 minutes drive way. Also Woodlands theme park is close by. Need to be aware that you need to drive everywhere as the lane out of Sykes Cottages is very narrow with no pavement. All in all would recommend and would definitely stay at Sykes Cottages again.
