  • “Lots of space indoors and out.”

Very Clean . Thank the cleaning team. Good views and great location for visiting the area. The downs stairs and bathrooms are a higher standard than some of the bedrooms. It’s nitpicking but brighter curtains would cheer up the rooms and frame the view . Fabulous house ,loved our stay. Would return in the future. All 4 couples said the same. Good to have the parking but blind bend meant having someone out on the road spotting for traffic ,not sure if some parking mirrors could be considered.

The property

Ideally positioned within the centre of the popular town of Kingsbridge, you will find the spacious three-storey dwelling of Victoria Lodge.

Home to five well-appointed bedrooms, this wonderful home-from-home provides the ultimate space for a large family or group getaway to the South Hams District of Devon.

Impress your guests as you take to the kitchen/diner to show off your culinary skills at the eye-catching range cooker, before serving up at the pretty oak dining table and indulging in a bottle of bubbly with your delicious meal.

Continue the evening’s festivities out in the garden with drinks on the patio whilst your canine companion plays on the lawn, or head back inside to the adjoining utility room and ground floor shower room, handy for muddy boots and muddier dogs and make a head start on your laundry with the help of the washing machine and tumble dryer that lie within.

Retire upstairs to the first floor and be greeted by a sophisticated Jack-and-Jill bathroom leading through to a king-size bedroom, or draw yourself a bath with the luxurious corner tub that rests within the second bathroom.

A few small steps up will bring you to an additional two bedrooms including a king-size and a twin with zip/link beds, allowing for the option of a super-king-size.

Finishing off the interior of the cottage are two lovely double bedrooms boasting an abundance of storage.

When you can just about manage to tear yourself away from this charming abode, be sure to take a gentle stroll along the picturesque recreation ground immediately adjacent to the property, or along the estuary to watch the boats bob happily in the waters, before stopping off at one of the many local restaurants for a quick bite to eat.

Take a tour of the pretty town with it's array of independent shops and galleries, delight in a relaxing stroll through the scenic Longbrook woods, before heading off to Salcombe for a fun-filled day at the beach.

Learn of the town’s history at sea with a visit to the Salcombe Maritime Museum, or why not admire the 19th century architecture of the National Trust's Overbeck's, home to exotic gardens with colourful flowers and magnificent views over the English Channel.

Bohemian Totnes is a 20 minute drive and home to many interesting shops and eateries, Those travelling with children should be sure to spend the day at Woodlands Family Theme Park, outdoor enthusiasts will relish in a long hike along the rugged cliff tops of the South West Coast Path.

KINGSBRIDGE

Salcombe 5 miles; Bantham 5 miles; Dartmouth 12 miles; Totnes 13 miles; Plymouth 20 miles.

The busy little town of Kingsbridge lies at the head of a marine estuary in the attractive South Hams area of South Devon. Kingsbridge is home to a range of lovely independent shops and coffee shops, as well as a local cinema and an award-winning pub. During the summer season there are river excursions to Salcombe to see the abundant wildlife in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), which also forms part of the South Devon Heritage Coast. Visitors can take a walk along the Kingsbridge Quay, wander through the narrow alleys off Fore Street or visit the Shambles in Totnes, an Elizabethan market arcade. Around the South Hams area there are picturesque ports, such as Dartmouth and Salcombe, together with sandy beaches at Blackpool Sands near Stoke Fleming and the two sandy beaches at Thurlestone. There are a host of small attractive villages in South Hams offering interesting pubs, local farm produce shops and pretty rows of cottages, plus further afield the waterfront city of Plymouth is a vibrant centre housing the National Marine Aquarium, historic Barbican Quay and plenty of night life, including theatres, restaurants and bars. Kingsbridge can be easily reached by train to Totnes and then a local bus service which will take you to Kingsbridge town centre.
