We have been visiting Stable End Cottage for many years.

We always look forward to going there & every time it is immaculately clean,warm & the owners are helpful & friendly. The garden is very private & a great place for a bbq. When we are visiting this part of Devon we wouldn’t dream of staying anywhere else! Mick Donovan

The cottage is extremely comfortable and very well maintained. The owners are both friendly and very helpful. Having stayed here for many years, I can highly recommend it and wouldn’t go anywhere else

Great location close to walks petrol station and supplies lovely spot to see wildlife and plenty of privacy in it’s own secluded garden Only downside to our stay which you wouldn’t normally notice but we did because weather was so hot was the lack of a through draft upstairs

It is lovely, well maintained and very comfortable. It has everything you could need. The location is perfect too, only a short drive into Salcombe and coastal walks.

The owners were friendly,helpful & welcoming.

The Property was clean,warm & comfortable - especially the upstairs bed! The internet connection was very good - I never thought I’d be watching Netflix here! The BBQ was very clean when we came to use it. It is also good that you can park very close to the Property. This was our fourth visit & it has always been great & is ideally situated for visiting the South Hams.

The levels of cleanliness and comfort are always outstanding. We have stayed in many cottages throughout the UK and this one is without doubt the best of them. It really is a wonderful cottage and we love it.

The cottage is really clean and comfortable and is in a lovely peaceful countryside location not too far from the sea. There's a nice private garden to sit out in, when the weather's good. Wonderful walks from the door in all directions. There really is no need to use the car. There is a convenience store in Marlborough which we found useful.

Beautiful cottage in a beautiful area, immaculate condition.

What more could you ask for? Salcombe only 8 mins by car.

Stable end cottage is a beautiful cottage in a lovely quite location but handy for all amenities.

The fixtures and fittings are all 1st class although the downstairs shower is a little small. Overall we could not fault the accommodation. The owner lives next door and was very helpful in advising us how to navigate Salcombe as the roads in the village are mostly single tack. The area would be great for anyone who enjoys walking as there are many opportunities from the doorstep.

Lovely quiet location with lots of wildlife to watch out for.

Only downside was no shower over the bath but we got round that by only using the walk in shower downstairs. Owners very helpful, and cleaning and linen change was done after one week.

This is an excellent cottage situated close to Salcombe.

It has everything required for a perfect holiday. It is spotless and well equipped. The hosts are welcoming. Definitely will be back

A beautifully maintained cottage in a delightful setting, it includes everything you need for a great relaxing holiday.

This was our second visit and hopefully it will not be our last.

The cottage is perfect for us. It is always spotlessly clean and very well maintained. It sits in stunning countryside with great local walks. Mr & Mrs Read are always on hand to help with any information you may require.

We received a warm welcome along with great tips on local areas to explore.

The cottage was maintained to a high standard and very comfortable. We had everything we needed for 3 adults on a walking holiday. Good October weather and a courtyard garden was a bonus. Breakfast outside was such a treat. A fabulous holiday.

The cottage was in a perfect location for us with footpaths off in all directions and an easy walk to the coast. The cottage was so comfortable with everything we needed and a nice private garden to sit out in.

The cottage was fabulous and we couldn’t fault anything.

It was very clean, comfortable and well equipped. There was even some new comfortable garden furniture in the enclosed small garden. We didn’t use it as much as we would have liked due to poor weather. We loved the peaceful location, not far from the small supermarket and bus stop. Parking was very easy just outside the front door. We enjoyed some lovely walks from the property without having to use the car. A fantastic base to explore a beautiful area. The owners have obviously thought of everything to give visitors a great place to stay. Thank you.

A well presented and very clean property set in a very peaceful setting.

The cottage is very comfortable with good quality fittings and furnishings. It is an ideal holiday cottage for a quiet get away, or a base for exploring the nearby countryside and lovely beaches.

Loved the house, so nice to have a good size main bedroom.

The location and setting are excellent for those wanting to feel remote but within walking distance of amenities and the beautiful coastal paths. The property is well thought out and equipped to a high standard. The owners are also extremely helpful, suggesting some excellent walks and sharing other hints and tips about the area.

We have been staying at this property every year for the last thirteen years except during lockdown.

The property has ample parking and is always spotlessly clean and very well maintained. We tend to eat in and the kitchen area is more than adequate for our needs. There is excellent TV reception and good internet access. It is situated in a quite valley surrounded by beautiful countryside with access to public footpaths nearby. We will be returning in 2024.

We found the cottage very comfortable and we especially loved the location, a part of Devon we were not that familiar with and have therefore booked again for next year.

Stable End cottage is in a perfect location, surrounded by countryside it has lots of places for walking and enjoying the Devon countryside.

It is also very close to the lovely town of Salcombe which apparently is the Kinightsbridge of Devon with its fabulous independent boutiques and harbour. The cottage is peaceful a real bolt hole from the noise of life. It has an amazing huge bedroom with tons of storeage space, a lovely en-suite bathroom with a bath and amazing views across the countryside. The smaller twin room downstairs is a fair size, I think if there were 2 adults in there it may be a bit of a squeeze, but perfect for kids or one adult. Great size shower room downstairs. The cottage is comfortable and is equipped with all you need for a good stay including some cooking utensils, iron, hoover etc. There is a really nice garden area where you can sit and relax looking out over the countryside. The cottage was very clean and tidy and looked brand new. My advice would be before arriving call the owners for directions as the ones on the website lead you to a new build estate and you can easily miss the turning for the cottage. I would highly recommend this cottage as a perfect place to stay in Devon.

Immaculate in every way and so well appointed and comfortable. Excellent position ,very quiet and restful. Garden ideal to relax in after a day exploring the area. Footpaths from the door and its very convenient to reach wonderful beaches and coves and wonderful coastal walks by short car journeys. We sincerely hope to return very soon.

Cottage is well equipped, spotlessly clean, very well decorated to a high standard and in a beautiful quiet location, secluded but easy to get to. Very handy for Salcombe and surrounding coves and beaches. Hope Cove was a gem to find. Our weather wasnt perfect but it would have been great to make use of the garden and BBQ provided. No phone signal for us but wifi good so not a problem. Really enjoyed seeing wild Deer in the field most days along with other wildlife. Perfect location for relaxing holiday. Thank you.

Lovely lovely property - well appointed, exceptionally clean and well maintained.

Location was superb. If not eating out, local Co-op and Ashbys had good quality supplies. The owner came to greet us after our arrival which was lovely, and gave us some useful tips about where to go. Our only issue would be to comment on the fearsome draught through the bottom half of the front door, which, as we had some very cold days, meant it was difficult to get the ground floor warm enough (upstairs was fine).

Stable End Cottage is an absolute gem, it offers seclusion, character and charm whilst being conveniently situated for walks along the scenic coast, trips to the beach and the shops.

Enjoyed our stayed at Stable End, lovely cottage, beautiful surroundings.

Recommend the walk to stunning Soar Mill Cove and a meal at The Old Inn Marlborough, feel completely relaxed after our stay.

A delightful cottage in a quiet location but within easy reach of daily needs.

The pretty patio garden with its open views is private and perfect for al fresco dining. The property is very well presented and is well maintained and equipped. There are attractive villages and wonderful beaches all around accessed by typically challenging Devon roads. HOWEVER, Sykes Cottages need to update their directions i.e. the garage at the crossroads in Malborough is now the "Co-Op": the final direction stating turn right at last house in Collaton Road leads into a new housing estate, so please add "then turn left" (as this extra turning looks unlikely).

Great week in a Devon in this really lovely cottage.

The hosts are very friendly and they should be very proud. The cottage was very clean and welcoming. Great location with some stunning walks right from the doorstop. We hope to go back.

Fabulous location.

The cottage was absolutely spotless and very comfortable. It was better in real life than the photos showed. The only small criticism is the wi-fi could be better. Maybe a satellite broadband solution could be the answer. But everything else was absolutely superb. Highly recommend.

Property was really lovely, very clean and tidy. The bed upstairs was very comfortable and it was lovely to wake up to a nice view and just the birds chirping- a very peaceful setting.

Location is so ideal for walks to Hope Cove, Soar Mill Cove, South Sands and the coastline without having to drive anywhere.

Every thing you could possibly need. In these strange times you couldn’t ask for anywhere more isolating. The owners very accommodating and friendly. Will certainly go back again.

Nice, freindly hosts, cottage quiet, would suit keen/able walkers as there are some footpaths running in several directions to bays and beaches which are quite lovely.

We seem to be working with 2 companies! Cottage was perfect for a holiday in or around Salcombe without fighting with the traffic yet close to towns, coast, walks and countryside.

This is a top quality accommodation. On arrival we met Stuart, who gave us information of local activities, walks, restaurants, and things of interest. Fully equipped Kitchen with everything you would need. Bathroom and Shower cosmetics also supplied.

We holiday here every year and always stay at this lovely cottage.

It is very comfortable, clean and finished to a very high standard. Wouldn’t stay anywhere else. Beautiful area too. Perfect for a holiday

An excellent rental with helpful & friendly host.

Was great to have the garden and barbecue as weather was good. The upstairs bedroom is great and all beds comfortable. Excellent having 2 bath/shower rooms.

Hosts were very welcoming.

Maps and walking guides provided were fantastic. Wi-fi signal much better than anticipated!

We have stayed at this property for the last 9 years. Each time we have found it to be extremely well maintained with excellent resources. On arrival the cottage is as clean and tidy as anyone could wish for. The owners live next door and are very friendly and helpful. The cottage is in a lovely countryside setting and is very quiet and peaceful.

Wonderful location very comfortable cottage

Lovely cottage. However property advertised as having WIFI, but wasn't working properly and the owner said that even when it was it was slow and unreliable. There was also no phone reception. This made it very difficult to plan anything to do with a toddler on a wet week! There was also no phone to use to contact emergency services. Would use the company again however.

Decent accommodation apart from the construction work. Points to note:- the toaster is faulty and the freezer compartment in the fridge does not work particularly well.

It is a beautiful property, well maintained and a great location. Our only concerns were that it stated Broadband was available, however this was not the case but the owners apologised for the problem and no mobile signal either which I know is out of their control. It just happened that our holiday coincided with some concerns with my parents at home and I would like to have had better contact with them in the cottage via wifi for example rather than having to go up to the top of the hill each time I wanted to call them. The property itself was lovely and comfortable, great facilities and plenty of room. The owners were delightful and very welcoming and I would highly recommend this property, unless you need to be online at all times.

This cottage is excellent for a quiet get away Holliday, it is well equipped & kept Spotlessly clean, we enjoyed our time there & would recommend it to anyone. The views from the secluded terrace were wonderful with plenty of wildlife To observe. ( red deer etc).

Lovely accommodation with pleasant owners. There to welcome and there if needed but privacy entirely respected. I was also given a complementary Riverford organics box. I took the trouble to advise well in advance that I was veggie-but still got given a packet of bacon and at least a pound of sausages. C&CC may have passed the message on but having it ignored did not impress. They might also like to think about cleaning the chiller packs -they smelt appalling and unwelcome alongside stuff to be eaten.

The cottage is very good, well appointed and maintained to a high standard. The owner lives next door and always pays us a visit the day we arrive to welcome us.
