    “Location is great, Coast and Country are great, but the house is seriously let down by the damp issue downstairs.”

    There is a dehumidifier provided, but I don't like leaving electrical items like that running when I am not in a house, and after being out for a day the house had a terrible damp smell once you went downstairs. Running the dehumidifier was pulling over a litre of water an hour out of the air. any clothes not in the wardrobe or suitcases ended up smelling of damp. Anything left on the floor was damp. There is no window in the 2nd bedroom and the air in here is heavy and damp. Its a shame as the house is to a reasonable standard and if it wasnt for the damp issues I would stay again, although the front door looks like an internal glass door with a latch on it, which is quite poor and made my wife feel uncomfortable. If these were sorted I would not hesitate to staying there again, the location is fantastic.

The dehumidifier is in the bedroom for use only when the property is unoccupied for any period of a few days or more to prevent the build-up of damp, it would not normally be used when tenants are in occupation due to drawing too much moisture created by the property being used and we are sorry that it was left out for your arrival. Unfortunately it had tripped out in the couple of weeks leading up to your booking hence the damp smell and slight mould on the walls. Following you departure the affected areas were treated and redecorated. Due to the nature/location of these basement type rooms it is very difficult to control damp and moisture build up other than regular decoration and the use of dehumidifiers. We will work closely with the owner to look into any other options that may help the situation. On a brighter note, we were pleased to hear that you loved the location of this property and do hope that you had an enjoyable time exploring Salcombe and all this town has to offer. The combined kitchen/dining area is well equipped (including gas hob, electric cooker, fridge, freezer, microwave, dishwasher), with a dining table seating four.

The master bedroom is a double en suite, whilst the second bedroom has twin beds and an en suite shower room, both of which are found on the lower ground floor.

Duvets, pillows and linen are provided, but guests are required to bring their own towels and tea towels.

Free Wireless broadband is provided, as is one parking pass for the nearby Creek car park.

With its central location, and nearby coast and countryside, this cosy cottage is ideal for families or couples.

SALCOMBE

Kingsbridge 7 miles; Dartmouth 21 miles; Plymouth 24 miles; Paignton 26 miles.

Salcombe is a popular destination for walkers and families looking for a holiday by the sea and was once a major port. There are two pretty beaches within a short distance, North Sands and South Sands and further on is the National Trust property Overbeck’s where you can wander through the subtropical gardens. Why not have a more adventurous day and try out the watersports available on the estuary including surfing, kayaking or a more leisurely boat trip? Whilst staying in Salcombe you must take advantage of the locally sourced seafood which is served in many of the restaurants, pubs, cafés and delicatessens. The southern tip of Devon provides some spectacular scenery and picturesque vistas with a number of sandy beaches, lovely villages with thatched cottages and some fantastic opportunities for walking, including the South West Coast path.

You are permitted to unload in Courtenay Street but NOT park as it is Residents Parking only and you will receive a parking ticket if you do so. Both bedrooms are located below ground level.
