    “We arrived late on the Friday evening so out of office hours.”

    The house was filthy. The floor had grit and dust all over it on every surface. Hadn’t been hoovered or washed. The fridge hadn’t been cleaned in weeks and stank. The bed slats were missing from the end of the bed in the spare room. I had to spend days cleaning the house. When I contacted Sykes to advise they offered a cleaner but only after I had already cleaned. They did send someone out to fix the bed but this took a few days. The owner wasn’t interested at all in dealing with issues ...

When I contacted Sykes to advise they offered a cleaner but only after I had already cleaned. They did send someone out to fix the bed but this took a few days. The owner wasn’t interested at all in dealing with issues and offered no compensation for the state of the house. I was advised I should have left the house as it was and wait for them to send a cleaner. The customer service was appalling. Sykes were unwilling to help in any way. Will never use Sykes again.

If you had let us know on your arrival we would have immediately sent a cleaner to rectify any issue, as we have a 24hr line for any eventualities. We were surprised to read your comments regarding the floors and the fridge as the owners had been to the property days before your arrival and had left the property and fridge in an immaculate condition. However, we have passed all your comments onto the cleaner that is responsible for cleaning the property on each change over day. We pride ourselves on customer service and on this occasion we have clearly fallen short and for this we are truly sorry. The property

5 Harbour Yard is a town centre property situated with a small gated development and benefits from an allocated undercover parking space in the village of Salcombe.

The front door opens into the entrance hallway, with a door leading to a ground floor bedroom and with the staircase rising to the first and second floor living and bedroom accommodation.

The well-presented open plan living area is situated on the second floor and benefits from a vaulted ceiling making the room light and airy, new 43" Smart TV and Sonos system.

There is a comfy corner sofa and two armchairs with a wooden dining table, chairs and bench seating for six guests with the well equipped kitchen situated at the rear of the room.

There are three bedrooms in total.

The master bedroom is located on the ground floor and is furnished with a super-king size bed (can be split into two singles on request) also boasts a 32" Smart TV.

Ensuite bathroom.

The two other bedrooms are both on the first floor.

Bedroom 2 has a king-size bed and bedroom 3 is furnished with built-in cabin beds suitable for the younger guest.

There is also a family bathroom on this level.

To the rear of the property, accessed from the first floor landing, is an enclosed rear terrace.

The local shop and pub can be situated within a 2-minute walk into the town centre, where you will have access to a number of shops and restaurants to enjoy.

For days out, you can relax with the family on North Sands, or for a more daring adventure visit South Sands, perfect for water sports.

5 Harbour Yard is a delightful property, situated within a stunning location, ideal for a family getaway.

Please be aware that whilst the owners bring their dog, guests are not permitted to bring pets.

About the location

SALCOMBE

Kingsbridge 7 miles; Dartmouth 21 miles; Plymouth 24 miles; Paignton 26 miles.

Salcombe is a popular destination for walkers and families looking for a holiday by the sea and was once a major port. There are two pretty beaches within a short distance, North Sands and South Sands and further on is the National Trust property Overbeck’s where you can wander through the subtropical gardens. Why not have a more adventurous day and try out the watersports available on the estuary including surfing, kayaking or a more leisurely boat trip? Whilst staying in Salcombe you must take advantage of the locally sourced seafood which is served in many of the restaurants, pubs, cafés and delicatessens. The southern tip of Devon provides some spectacular scenery and picturesque vistas with a number of sandy beaches, lovely villages with thatched cottages and some fantastic opportunities for walking, including the South West Coast path.

Due to living area, the property is only suitable for 4 adults and 2 children.
Washing machine is communal and is situated in an out building.
There is air conditioning in all rooms.
