    “A lovely little flat for our short stay in Salcombe.”

    There didn't seem to be many other occupants at the other Melbury properties, which meant that it was very quiet. The flat was as advertised online, and the kitchen seemed to have everything you would need, although we only used it for breakfasts. Showers were fine. There was no welcome pack, or guide to the property there (with recommendations for the area, how to use things) as you would normally expect, but we didn't really need one for such a short stay. The beds were all very ...

There was no welcome pack, or guide to the property there (with recommendations for the area, how to use things) as you would normally expect, but we didn't really need one for such a short stay. The beds were all very comfortable, and the linen/towels provided were all good. The flat is situated high up on the hill from the town, so there was always a steep climb back up, which may be tricky for some people. This also meant that the views from the living room window were spectacular. A lovely stay!

5 Melbury is a beautifully-presented holiday apartment located in the stunning resort town of Salcombe in Devon.

Situated within the South Devon National Landscape and so close to the coast, this property is a perfect base for families and friends wanting to enjoy a tranquil holiday with peaceful walks and breathtaking views.

Step into a bright and airy open-plan living space with large windows offering lovely views of the town and Salcombe Estuary.

Here you'll lounge on the sofa before setting off on an adventure-filled day or make use of the fully-equipped kitchen to whip up your favourite meals.

Enjoy your culinary exploits out on the decking for some alfresco dining or have a feast with the barbecue in the communal garden.

Come back inside when the sun has set to unwind with a hot shower in the shower room, then retreat to one of three bedrooms - all boasting stunning views - to catch your rest.

Wake up early in the morning and make yourself a hot beverage to watch the sunrise over the estuary from your bedroom window.

Explore the town of Salcombe to find a plethora of activities and eateries; head to Salcombe North Sands with its crystal blue waters and rock pools, take a stroll through Overbeck's Garden, an Edwardian-style home with lovely art collections and a beautiful garden, tuck into some delicious pub grub at The Ferry Inn with its waterside beer garden and have some afternoon tea at Sailor V café.

In the nearby town of Kingsbridge you can sail across the estuary and spot local wildlife at Nature Calls Boat Tours, learn more about the town's history at Kingsbridge Cookworthy Museum and end this trip with a family meal at Wild Artichokes.

Take the scenic route to the bustling city of Plymouth and say hi to the marine life at National Marine Aquarium, take a picnic over to West Hoe Park where the little ones can take a ride on the miniature train and enjoy fairground rides, then take a tour of the Royal Citadel, a 17th-century fortress.

Plenty of adventures await you at 5 Melbury.

SALCOMBE

Kingsbridge 7 miles; Dartmouth 21 miles; Plymouth 24 miles; Paignton 26 miles.

Salcombe is a popular destination for walkers and families looking for a holiday by the sea and was once a major port. There are two pretty beaches within a short distance, North Sands and South Sands and further on is the National Trust property Overbeck’s where you can wander through the subtropical gardens. Why not have a more adventurous day and try out the watersports available on the estuary including surfing, kayaking or a more leisurely boat trip? Whilst staying in Salcombe you must take advantage of the locally sourced seafood which is served in many of the restaurants, pubs, cafés and delicatessens. The southern tip of Devon provides some spectacular scenery and picturesque vistas with a number of sandy beaches, lovely villages with thatched cottages and some fantastic opportunities for walking, including the South West Coast path.
