The property

Anchor Cottage is a delightful period property located in a tranquil cul-de-sac in the popular ‘Arts and Maritime Quarter’ area and only a few minutes’ walk into the centre of this wonderful waterfront town.

The cottage enjoys good views across Island Street towards Batson Creek and Snapes Point.

Salcombe is home to a fantastic array of boutique shops, cafés, pubs, restaurants and a picturesque quayside where you can jump onto the the foot passenger ferry across to the sandy beaches of East Portlemouth or down to South Sands.

A few steps lead up from the parking space and into the ground floor hall leading into the bright open plan living area.

Here you will find a well-equipped kitchen with an Aga-style range cooker taking centre stage and where you and the family can prepare your evening meal to be enjoyed at the dining table.

After dinner, relax on one of the sofas and watch the TV or discuss the day's events.

Leading off from the kitchen is a separate utility room with a further door leading to a covered courtyard with butler sink, ideal for washing out wetsuits after a day at the beach and steps lead up to a paved terrace.

On the two upper floors are three charming bedrooms: the second-floor master bedroom has a king-size bed and enjoys views towards Batson Creek, plus an en-suite shower room.

The second and third bedrooms are both on the first floor and are furnished with a double bed and twin beds respectively and there is also a family bathroom with a large walk-in shower.

To the rear of the property is a raised terrace with mature borders, the perfect spot to sit and enjoy a glass of something chilled after a day on the beach or walking the wonderful South West Coast Path.

There is also off-road parking directly outside the cottage for one large car.

The centre of Salcombe is a short walk away, providing a host of shops, bars and eateries, along with a picturesque harbour and a choice of sandy beaches within easy reach, including East Portlemouth, which is a short ferry ride away.

The South Devon AONB is a 15-minute drive away, where you can enjoy some magnificent walking routes and get to appreciate the best of the Devonshire coastline.

Set over three floors, Anchor Cottage is a perfectly located holiday home, providing an ideal base for couples or families looking to enjoy all that Salcombe and the surrounding area has to offer at any time of the year.

About the location

SALCOMBE

Kingsbridge 7 miles; Dartmouth 21 miles; Plymouth 24 miles; Paignton 26 miles.

Salcombe is a popular destination for walkers and families looking for a holiday by the sea and was once a major port. There are two pretty beaches within a short distance, North Sands and South Sands and further on is the National Trust property Overbeck’s where you can wander through the subtropical gardens. Why not have a more adventurous day and try out the watersports available on the estuary including surfing, kayaking or a more leisurely boat trip? Whilst staying in Salcombe you must take advantage of the locally sourced seafood which is served in many of the restaurants, pubs, cafés and delicatessens. The southern tip of Devon provides some spectacular scenery and picturesque vistas with a number of sandy beaches, lovely villages with thatched cottages and some fantastic opportunities for walking, including the South West Coast path.

The staircase leading to the master bedroom is open plan, with no door at the top or bottom, and therefore not suitable for young children.

Please do not bring a clamp on high chair for the table.

1 x small/medium well behaved dog permitted at an additional charge of £25 per week. No puppies under 15 months.

Please note, care must be taken on the steps leading to the rear terrace.
