“The dishwasher had clearly been put on a short cycle before we arrived (as the occupants leaving are instructed to have put the dishwasher through and unpack it before leaving the property by 10am) this short cycle meant the dishes had not been cleaned properly (the dishwasher tablet was still sitting wet in the open dishwasher tray) and so we had several plates, mugs and cutlery that were not cleaned.”

The cutlery was still in the dishwasher tray. I think a better plan would to ask occupants to put the dishwasher on before leaving the property and leave for cleaners to check and unpack. It is not reasonable to have to complete this by 10am. The en-suite toilet in the bedroom at the top of the stairs was dripping the whole 4 days we were there. A maintenance person did come around but he could not fix it. We had to put up with a rather annoying drip all through every night. The plumber who we were told was coming on Good Friday did not come. The washer on the kitchen tap was clearly worn as the tap leaked water, this was bought to the attention of the maintenance person and he said the plumber would fix it. The plug in the upstairs bath did not work but the maintenance person was able to provide us with a new plug which was appreciated. The WiFi and heating system were not working on the Friday and having left a message on the emergency mobile number (as the house was cold without the heating) we had hoped to receive a call back but we did not get any call back. There was a small amount of dried blood on one of the single duvets in the upstairs twin room that my daughter found. This was clearly old blood and was not from our stay. We would appreciate a small refund on what we paid in view of the multiple problems we encountered. Thank you for your consideration. I have purposefully asked for this review not be made public as I would not want to influence other customers who may want to stay at Welsummer as it is a lovely property but these maintenance issues should be resolved and finding dirty dishes is not acceptable. I would like the review shared with the owner please. We are regular customers with Sykes and will be planning further holidays with you in the future. Kind regards Susie and Mark Nicholson
