5 Thurlestone Beach

We have stayed in other properties at Thurlestone Beach on many occasions.

The location of Number 5 is lovely. Beds comfortable and the quality of the bed linen is good. The owners have kindly provided lots of games, CDs, DVDs, etc., which is lovely. The comfort of the sofas and chairs was good. However.... the property would benefit from attention to the kitchen: Toaster broken (rhs), dishwasher door peeling, kitchen not very well equipped, e.g. no grater, no small paring knife, no small milk pan. The property was not as clean as it could be - no hoovering under the sofa, bed or behind the bed in the master bedroom along the skirting. board. We did not use the oven or hob but I noticed the glass surround on the extractor and the extractor housing was splattered with 'burnt on' grease. The fridge freezer was replaced whilst we were there, and the fitters emptied a unit containing a grill pan, which I noticed had fresh food residue lying in it. The owners are providing a lovely experience that appears to be let down by the service. These are small matters that could easily be improved. These comments are made in good faith that it will benefit the service provider (and therefore the owner). Nevertheless, I would stay there again, but this is why I have given a four-star review and not a five. Thank you to the owners, you have a lovely property.

Super comfy apartment.

Very well kitted out, had everything we wanted and more. Bed was comfortable and the en-suite had a decent shower. Plenty of storage and everything was nice and clean. You wouldn’t know that there had been any dogs there. Access to the patio and lawns was very convenient for our little dog. We had awful weather for our weeks stay but the cosy apartment certainly made up for it. The welcome pack of tea, coffee and biscuits was a nice touch. We would definitely use this apartment again and recommend it to friends. One note for the owner is that the kitchen sink tap is very stiff to operate and I think it will not be long before it fails! Many thanks for an enjoyable stay.

Lovely apartment we have stayed in other apartments in same location very good amenities, close to beach and easy access.

Fantastic apartment everything you ever need will be back

Very comfortable, well equipped apartment with nice views (weather permitting!

). Comfortable beds and lovely shower in the en-suite to the main bedroom. Being ground floor and having the garden outside was extremely convenient for our dog - as was having a utility room. Slightly strange setup in the kitchen with glasses high up in a cupboard above the microwave (and some of which didn't seem very clean). Personally we are not great fans of leather sofas (slippery) but overall very well furnished with plenty of storage in the bedrooms. Not impressed with the lack of recycling options and a shame there was no washing up liquid or kitchen roll supplied - remedied next day via the village stores. Only one place to eat in the village - The Village Inn in the hotel - nice but not cheap so we mainly self-catered and had a Tesco delivery which worked quite well. Would happily stay again in good weather - nice dog friendly beaches but not a lot to do otherwise and the roads are very narrow so venturing out further becomes an experience!

We loved the apartment.

Well equipped, attractively furnished and with a lovely view across fields to rhe coast. Our west- facing outside area meant we could sit in afternoon and evening sunshine every day. Very quiet surroundings and excellent planting around the gardens. The best holiday home we have stayed in, and we have stayed in lots in Cornwall and Devon over the last 40 years!

Hive wasnt working so no hot water or heat on day 1 and 2 until electrician arrived as we couldnt find the overide button.

The mats in the double bedroom kept getting caught under doors which was annoying. Cleaner didnt take away some rubbish in hall and a poo bag was left on the terrace. Coffee machine too complicated, a nespresso style would have been better. Generally the apartment and location were great and I would consider returning.

Property was well equipped and really lovely, beds super comfy, powerful showers, gardens beautifully maintained.

Did have an issue where someone let themselves into our apartment whilst we were out and left the door open. I phoned Sykes and lodged a complaint. Apparently the cleaner had dropped the key off to the apartment and should have been dropped off at head office. Sykes assured me it wouldn’t happen again.

Excellent property very comfortable.

It is a short walk to the coastal path along the road. The property is really in South Milton so the name is slightly misleading! It isn’t on Thurlestone beach. However It is in a great position and would love to stay there again!

Such a super apartment to arrive into - So cosy, clean and welcoming.

We really appreciated the Illy Coffee (How did you know that's our Favourite!) and all of the touches like the CD Collection and music systems - The well stocked kitchen and utility - To make the time away so lovely and even more so as it is for our family Christmas! Gorgeous and comfy - Definitely recommend! Happy 2026!

Our 2nd Visit to this very cosy and welcoming apartment.

We really appreciate all your kind gifts and generosity. My father, enjoyed his week (celebrating his 100th year) on the many walks in his wheelchair from North Sands to Salcombe. We will definitely book this wonderful apartment again.
