“No. 2 Burgh Island Causeway is an absolutely beautiful apartment with a stunning view across the beach and the sea to Burgh Island.”

The apartment is very well equipped to a very high standard, everything works perfectly. The bedrooms, bathrooms, and lounge, kitchen, diner are light, beautifully furnished and decorated. The huge terrace has a table, sun shade, chairs, sun beds, cushions - a wonderful place to sit, read, eat, talk with the sea so close by. We loved every minute of our week in this clean, well appointed apartment.

The apartment is very well equipped to a very high standard, everything works perfectly. The bedrooms, bathrooms, and lounge, kitchen, diner are light, beautifully furnished and decorated. The huge terrace has a table, sun shade, chairs, sun beds, cushions - a wonderful place to sit, read, eat, talk with the sea so close by. We loved every minute of our week in this clean, well appointed apartment.

“This is the second time we have stayed here.”

It’s a very homely, well-equipped apartment, and we particularly enjoyed the large terrace and the convenient proximity to the other facilities. My parents would happily live here permanently. My only slight niggle is the requirement to strip the beds and empty the bins before departure. I take my parents on holiday every year and already find the logistics of getting everyone packed, in and out of the accommodation quite demanding. Having to complete these additional chores at the end of the stay does take away from the final day of the holiday. It feels like a leftover requirement from COVID that has not really been reviewed since, and it does rather feel like guests are now being asked to take on tasks that properly belong within the accommodation service. As my parents become less mobile, I find I am increasingly conscious of the practicalities, and it would make a real difference if this was reconsidered.

“We had another lovely stay at the apartment which has a beautiful view of the beach.”

It was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. There were some extras which were very much appreciated. On the one occasion we tried, we could not get the landline to work.

“An excellent apartment in a superb location.”

Comfortable, well equipped and well maintained. Single bed rather tired. We have one concern, however. The step to the patio caught us unaware at first, resulting in injury to one of us. There should be a short handrail or half step.

“No. 2 Burgh Island is a beautiful apartment with stunning views across the sandy causeway to Burgh Island.”

The apartment itself is spotlessly clean, extremely comfortable, and with all mod cons. The outdoor patio area is lovely, with plenty of space to relax and read a book or eat al fresco. I would definitely recommend this apartment to anyone I know. Mobile phones do not appear to work within the apartment unless you leave the apartment and go up to the car park for a signal ; this is something to bear in mind as my text messages were received late after I'd left the apartment. Plus, we did have an emergency call from our daughter at our home which meant my husband had to go up to the car park to talk to her and help with her emergency - we didn't use the landline in the apartment as she was ringing us on the phone she thought we'd answer. However, Wifi signal in the apartment is very good.

Modbury 6 miles; Plymouth 12 miles.

Bigbury-on-Sea is located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is ideal for family holidays. Dusted with sand and lapped by shallow waters, the beach offers safe fun for groups particularly if you’ve got children in tow. In addition, Bigbury-on-Sea beach is dotted with rock pools, so there’s plenty of entertainment for budding marine biologists. There’s also a wide and varied selection of watersports available to visitors who prefer their holidays to feature a little adrenaline rush. Windsurfing and kite-surfing are popular here, with hire facilities located right on the beach. To give you some peace of mind, there are lifeguards present at Bigbury-on-Sea beach during May to September and the beach also has a first-aid room. You can even take the dog onto the beach, although they are restricted to certain areas during the summer. Bigbury’s most famous landmark is Burgh Island, which overlooks the beach itself. The island is accessible at low tide, when the waters reveal a causeway that links it to the beach. However, when the tide is in you can still reach the island by hitching a ride on the popular and unique ‘sea tractor’. Burgh Island boasts an award-winning hotel, elegant and rather genteel, it’s an ideal romantic retreat for couples. Explore the South Devon coast with its fabulous sandy beaches and its breathtakingly beautiful coastal path or simply take time to visit some of the charming estuary towns and villages dotted throughout the area, such as Salcombe, Kingsbridge and Dartmouth.
