“We left feedback with the agents when we returned the keys, but in case it isn't passed on, here it is again.”

The property was spotlessly clean and extremely well appointed with everything we needed - except perhaps fans in the living/dining/kitchen room and bedrooms. The advantage of providing them would be that guests would not need to have all the windows open in hot weather and be disturbed by the VERY loud live music playing in the pub on the other side of the market square until midnight (even on Sunday!) and the street rowdiness that followed thereafter. The other downside to the property is that even getting a small/medium sized car into the rear courtyard is nigh on impossible if the neighbour sharing the space has parked there, as there is no room to swing in from the extremely narrow alley. Fortunately we were lucky enough to get public parking spaces close by, and parking in the market square is free and without time limits other than 6.30 - 8.30am on Tues/Fri/Sat. We also found on arrival that the neighbours' dog had pooped on the decking outside the kitchen door. Whilst they did clear it up when asked to, the fact that the space is shared does leave it vulnerable to such incidents. It was disappointing that a stay in such a lovely cottage should be marred by the behaviour of others!

Hi Elaine, I’m sorry to read that music from across the square was a nuisance to you. It has always been that music and indeed noise has to stop by 11pm because it is in a residential area. The landlord is usually spot on with ensuring that is the case, his license is at stake if he doesn’t. I’ll look into it. I’m not aware anything has changed. There is a fan in the under stairs cupboard behind the one arm chair. We are at the property in a week or two, I’ll check if it’s there. Thank you for bringing it to our attention. I will certainly be getting another for the cottage if it is missing. The owner of next door visits very infrequently and doesn’t have a dog. It sounds as if there was an inconsiderate visitor as parking nor a dog has ever been a problem. I can only apologise I too would annoyed by those issue. Kind regards Sally Property Owner

About the location

DARTMOUTH

Totnes 12 miles.

Dartmouth lies on the banks of the beautiful River Dart estuary in the popular and picturesque South Hams area of South Devon. Located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the coast, Dartmouth is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Devon. It offers a stunning waterfront, ancient narrow streets lined with boutique shops, restaurants and art galleries plus many local events such as the annual Dart Music Festival and the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta, along with the Dartmouth Food Festival held every October. There are many interesting cycling and walking routes around Dartmouth, including the South West Coast Path, the Dart Valley Trail and plenty of quiet country lanes. A trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway through picturesque countryside to Paignton is a must, and so is a boat trip across to Kingswear and on to Brixham, a pretty little harbour town. For those seeking some beach activities, there is a wide choice in the South Hams area such as Blue Flag Award winner Blackpool Sands, and Slapton Sands, both extremely popular and just a stone's throw from Dartmouth. A relaxing location in South Devon.

Please note that the parking space is only suitable for a small/medium car. The space is accessed down a narrow side street.
