We had a very enjoyable week staying at 3 Tarifa.

Kath was very friendly and helpful. The selection of kitchen utensils, pans and crockery far exceeded anywhere we’ve ever stayed, which made self catering very easy.The balcony patio was surprisingly private and we enjoyed soaking up the sea views with a glass of wine.

3 Tarifa is the perfect location for a beach holiday.

Great location: walking distance to Bigbury on Sea beach, with lovely sand, water sports activities and hire, cafe and the Burgh Island. Great views: ample terrace where you can admire the sea, coast and beach from the comfort of the home Very comfortable, well equipped kitchen and welcoming host - scones and jam on arrival were delicious! We loved the whole experience, would definitely come again.

Tarifa 3 provided exactly what we wanted for our holiday - a great location, very comfortable and all the facilities we needed.

The peace and quiet was glorious. Excellent comms from the owner - her care and generosity ensured we had a fantastic holiday.

Well kept and decorated. Comfortable beds. Easy ground floor access no sytairs or steps. Any issues are handled promptly by Bruce the caretaker. Nice walks up and over the fields or on the coastal path. Great food at the Journeys End pub.

Very well appointed, fantastic views.

Comfortable beds, furniture and powerful shower. So relaxing surroundings. People that are not comfortable driving down narrow country lanes should be wary as quite a bit of traffic on the roads to the property.

A very comfortable, well equipped and spacious property for up to four people.

Had a wonderful stay here celebrating my husbands birthday as he loves Bigbury On Sea.

The apartment was beautiful and spacious and clean and comfortable and we couldn't possibly have wanted anything else as all provided. We weren't expecting the cream tea on our arrival and that went down a treat so a big thank you to the owners for providing it. We were lucky with the weather for the time of year(2nd week in March) and enjoyed sea swims daily and walking across to the island and over to Challoborough and up to the local shop at St Anns Chapel a couple times. Would highly recommend this gem of a place to anyone looking for very reasonably priced accommodation that gives excellent value for money in every way.

Theres only one word to describe this property, thats WOW, i could happily live there, its homely, clean the view is to die for, the balcony is huge.

We could easily stayed another week. Yes we will return x

We had a lovely stay at 3 Tarifa, enjoyed the amazing sea views from the living room and the generous balcony.

On arrival we had complimentary scones, clotted cream, jam, tea and milk. It was a perfect pick me up after a long journey. The flat is very welcoming, great location, would love to visit again.

The shower was blocked, towels a bit skimpy. Overall very pleasant stay. I booked it with the anticipation of eating meals outdoors on the balcony but completely impossible with the seagulls.

A great location, easy parking, all well equipped, nice to have a bath as well as shower. No problems at all.

Lovely clean well cared for apartment, well equipped and plenty of crockery so that dish washer can be utilised efficiently, maybe a second larger frying pan would be nice.

The level access and allocated parking is a bonus. Great views from the large private patio / balcony area. Isolated as far as local shops go, about 15 min walk to nearest small Nisa store for basics and newspapers, other supplies only a short drive away. The approach roads to Bigbury are very narrow so patience is a virtue. Pedestrian access to the beach is a short steepish walk but nothing too dramatic. We would definitely stay here again.

Wonderfully location, great views over the sea.

Appartment clean and comfortable, good accommodation for 4 people. Well equipped kitchen area, load of crockery and glasses. Good size balcony with table, chairs and sun beds. Comfy seating in the lounge area. WiFi very good. Not a thing to complain about.

We have stayed in this apartment for several years now - we love it!

It was very clean and is very well equipped, as usual! Our only niggle is the fact that the Council has put cameras in the car park at the beach, has put in ghastly new payment machines and has put the price up hugely. There were an awful lot of people who were unable to work the newfangled machines but luckily there were some younger folk who were able to help! When we were younger and fitter we were able to walk down and back……now, we could get down but not back up!! However the views from Tarifa are utterly fabulous so we don’t miss out altogether! Wonderful holiday, wonderful apartment, wonderful views, wonderful weather - and thank you for cream teas etc, also wonderful!

We had a great week.

The apartment is great with brilliant views! The kitchen is so well equipped. Only minor points to make it even better, could there be a fry pan. The omelette pan was too small to cook for a family of four. My children used the shared garden and said it was covered in dog poo so had to watch where they walked. They also said the beds were small and not that comfortable in comparison to the main bed which I found very comfortable. Thanks for having us. We would love to stay again!

A lovely, recently modernised 2 bedroom flat, which is excellent for those with difficulty negotiating steps/stairs.

The view is outstanding, overlooking the outstanding Bigbury-on-sea beach & the bay beyond. Excellently appointed, with modern kitchen, bathroom & shower room and all "mod cons" required for a comfortable stay, including a washer/dryer & dishwasher. The private patio is delightful for dining/having a relaxing drink overlooking the sea views & equipped with sunloungers for relaxing times. Please note that there are numerous narrow roads in the surrounding area that require negotiation with care.

This was our 3rd visit to Tarifa 3, and as before everything was there that we could ever need.

So comfortable and just great to sit outside, and watch the sea and people enjoying themselves in it. Its all on one level which is also very good.. We went out and about enjoying the area. Thank you also for the cream tea goodies, much appreciated. Shame the weather could have been a bit better! Would really recommend a stay here.

This was our third stay.

The property is excellent in every way- very luxurious, comfortable beds, great shower and bath, very well equipped, in a good location and the most amazing views. It’s very accessible and all on one level. Would thoroughly recommend and hope we will be back one day as the property really is lovely. One minor thing, when it’s dark, a floor lamp may be a helpful addition in the lounge if reading. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Tarifa is an incredible apartment!

The views are absolutely stunning and having the huge balcony was such a treat. We have visited all over Devon and Cornwall and Bigbury is an exceptional beach - our new favourite! The owners have thought about every detail to make your stay comfortable. The kitchen is very well equipped, the beds are comfy, the showers are powerful and apartment is very clean. It is a bonus to have a large car parking space. As the apartment is at ground level, it is very accessible. The owners were very friendly and helpful in every way. Having the surf school within a few minutes was a bonus. There is a small shop within about 10 minutes walk and there is a big supermarket at Kingsbridge. There are lots of things to do - wonderful beaches, Dartmoor Zoo, Salcombe and lovely walks. The roads are very narrow at times so take care. I would not hesitate to recommend this apartment. It is a magical place.

The apartment is well-equipped and the view is stunning.

The huge balcony has everything needed for a relaxing stay. Unfortunately, it wasn't as cleaned as we expected. The shower head and shower itself had black mold on it, the oven, plates and toilet weren't clean, there were used tissues and chocolate paper on the couch and breadcrumbs on the kitchen floor. We would love to to visit again, if it would be cleaner.

Excellent property only 5 minutes walk to a stunning beach with fabulous views from the balcony equipped with seating and sun loungers.

The property itself had all facilities you would need for your stay with a designated parking bay on site. Bigbury on Sea is perfect for a leisurely beach holiday but not ideal as a touring base with challenging roads in and out. 3 Tarifa though was a joy to stay at.

Well equipped and comfortable. The terrace has good quality outside furniture with table and chairs also two sun beds. Easy access to the amazing beach at Bigbury on Sea. We would thoroughly recommend this apartment.

Lovely, comfortable and well equipped apartment.

Great views of nesting seagulls, kite surfers and extensive views of the sea and cliffs. The proximity to Burgh Island was the draw and did not disappoint. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend others to spend some time in this delightful apartment by the sea.

The flat was amazing.

So warm and comfortable. Bigger than I expected. The light streaming through the glass doors from the patio each day. We even sat outside on the recliners in the Autumn sun. Well equipped kitchen. Listened to the waves from my bedroom. A perfect holiday and a real deal on the weekly price.

3 Tarifa is a lovely two bedroom apartment with ground floor access, good quality furnishings, fixtures and fittings, two bathrooms, and a large balcony with views directly over the sea.

We had a very enjoyable week's holiday there, exploring the local beaches and coastline and villages and towns, and look forward to coming to stay again.

Perfect.

Beautiful location, very well equipped, spacious and clean. Really nice to receive tea, scones, cream, jam and milk on arrival (just what was needed after a long drive). Great views over the sea, just a shame the weather wasn't better so we could use the balcony more.

The owner provided everything you could possibly want and more.

Excess china and cutlery allowed efficient use of the dishwasher. Cream tea on arrival was very welcome. Lovely large balcony and sea views. We were disappointed that next door was a building site. Noisy workmen, cement mixure and banging was not welcome at 8am! This was not the owners fault but an adjustment to the tariff might have made the pill easier to swallow. Everywhere was very clean except the blinds. Lovely location, easy walk to beach and plenty of car parking for one disabled member. Would book again once the building work next door is finished.

It was our second stay & once again we had a lovely time.

The property is luxurious with everything you could possibly need. The views of the coastline are stunning & it’s lovely to sit outside having a meal or drink, looking at the sea. Beds are very comfortable & would highly recommend a stay in the property.

Wonderful position with views over the sea and walks from the property over the cliffs and along the beach.

Well maintained and equipped. A pleasure to deal with the owner. New terrace furniture includes table and chairs and 2 sunbeds. Would highly recommend for two couples or family.

Two minor criticisms.

There are about 6 cupboards in the kitchen and all bar one are full of crockery and glasses leaving only one cupboard for storing supplies. I counted at least 21 mugs in an apartment which accommodates 4. Also the fridge freezer doors could be turned around so they opened the other way which would make it much easier to use.

The views from the apartment were stunning.

The comfort and facilities were exceptional. We definitely will be coming to stay again and will recommend to friends in the future.

The property was as expected great view of the sea nice to be on one level clean as expected little unfortunate that next door had builders making a noise but not until 9 am & gone lucky with the weather very warm to sit on the balcony good get away thank you for the scones jam & cream.

As we came through the door, our reaction was "WoW".

The beautiful view, the huge balcony, and comfortable surroundings were perfect. The well equipped kitchen, and attention to detail throughout has made our stay such a pleasure. Thank you for such a relaxing holiday. We hope to return in the future. One small request would be a parasol on the balcony to provide a little shade, whilst enjoying the view.

Great property and location.

Re previous review. The previous occupants rang us on the landline asking for a Amazon fire stick. We were not happy to return this without consent from the owner and asked them to ring the owner. Any difficulty in retrieving this item left behind was due to their approach.

Great place to stay in Big bury on sea everything good but just one thing change over day we were running bit late 15 min leaving the guy was very abrupt when he came in and didn’t even knock , this led to us having forgotten an item and trying to get this back was very difficult after we left , got call from the owner and she was very abrupt to regarding the forgotten item so place lovely owner and caretaker could do a course in customer care

So enjoyed our stay at Tarifa - such a perfect location with beautiful views from the large balcony and the beach just a short walk away.

The accommodation is modern with every detail in terms of comfort and facilities having been thought of. We've stayed in a lot of holiday rentals but this our favourite!

Lovely property with stunning sea views.

Very clean and comfortable. Although there was a television in the second bedroom it didn’t work. The main bedroom could have done with a drawer unit in the room so that there was somewhere in the room with a dressing table style top to make drying hair easier and somewhere to put jewellery at night. The unit in the wardrobe we did not use as it was behind the doors with no light. It was disappointing not to have bath sheets just bath towels. The wash basin in the bathroom took a long time drain away We were surprised that there was no mention that the roads leading to the property were extremely narrow.

Brilliant place to stay, great views from the lounge and the terrace.

Loads of crockery and cutlery and use of the dishwasher meant I did not have to wash up all the time. Beds very comfortable, lovely linen and towels. Excellent base to do local walks and of course lovely beach just a few minutes walk away. Will definitely use this apartment again.

Lovely setting near the top of the village, good view towards Bantham beach and Hope Cove.

Very well equipped in the kitchen but would have liked a blanket to go over the summer duvets, and a nest of tables in the sitting area. We had asked about shade on the balcony and benefited from taking our own garden parasol.

We were so impressed with the property you are so very fortunate to have this little gem,its like home from home.

When we arrived we were welcome with a lovely cream tea thankyou very much it was a lovely start to the holiday we sat out on the wonderful terrace and enjoyed the wonderful view.

A third visit, high Standard as usual.

A fabulous view both from the comfortable sofas and the wonderful balcony. Clean, well equipped and like a home from home! We have had a great week and will be back.

My only niggle was that in "clearing the decks" to make Covid cleaning easier for the staff some of the lighting had been removed too.

This left the main lights and the two table lamps as far too dim at this stage of the season for reading

We have stayed here before and loved it so much that we booked it again for this latest stay……and yet again for May 2022!

The first visit, we couldn’t use the balcony because of the awful mess the seagulls had made - this time though it was all spotless and seemed far fewer gulls (I think they are all in Worcester, where we have awful problems) but we did wonder where they all were, despite being thankful! The kitchen has been altered and new units installed, all spotless and very well equipped- we needed nothing extra at all. We thoroughly enjoyed our generous welcome gifts, milk, scones, strawberry jam and not to mention clotted cream and a packet of lovely tea! We look forward to our next visit.

Just one tiny gripe.

The internal hall from which the flats were accessed really smelt of damp. To start with it was really off putting..

We had a fantastic stay at 3 Tarifa.

The property has a beautiful terrace overlooking the sea & is very well equipped. It was very clean & comfortable too. The location is fab - just a short walk down to the beach.

Considering we're in the middle of a pandemic, the whole holiday experience was outstanding.

Tarifa was fabulous, and catered for all our needs. We would certainly like to return. Our 9 & 12yr old grandsons, thought it was 'Just Awesome'...... One of the best !!

I need to make very clear that the property was perfect.

The owner was extremely helpful and the apartment was extremely well equipped with high quality fixtures and fittings. Mrs Pester also provided excellent information on the area. My problem is with your company. I booked this holiday with Helpful Holidays, a company I have used successfully in the past. However sometime prior to the first lockdown, without any warning, you became Sykes Holidays. Contact with them was impossible when it was obvious that our holiday originally booked for June 2020 would not take place. Eventually, on email, the only option I had was to rebook for this year. I was NEVER given the option of a refund, to which I was fully entitled. Then, to add insult to injury, Sykes made me pay a supplement to bring the cost up to 2021 prices. It would have at least been a gesture on Sykes’s part to keep the price at the original level. I know for a fact that other UK companies managed to do that. I would very much like to get your feedback on my comments. Regards, Lynn Baker.

Delighted with property, it was well equipped, comfortable and for the most part very clean.

Unfortunately the superb deck, it’s furniture, and sliders to it were not clean. We needed to clean them before use. This was the only drawback in great week, (weather could have been better, but views were fantastic)

3 Tarifa was an absolute gem!

It was immaculately clean, beautifully presented and well equipped. A delicious cream tea left for us was a lovely thought, enjoyed on the balcony with beautiful views. We are already looking forward to returning! Thank you

A comfortable and well-equipped holiday home.

Great location with fabulous views.

The location although quite remote is beautiful.

Perfect if you want a quiet holiday (outside the school holidays) or are into walking or swimming. There are local amenities, you just need to do a bit of exploring, the pubs are great. The apartment is wonderfully clean and well equipped, comfortable beds and everything you need, topped off with a great view from the balcony. Would recommend booking the afternoon tea at Burgh Island hotel, a nice taste of luxury. The only other comment I would make, is that an extra low level reading lamp would make a great difference in the lounge, it was difficult for two people to read at the same time. Also, be aware that the roads are very narrow and it can get very busy at weekends, however, it is a short walk to the beach so no parking necessary, although you will have to negotiate hills. Overall, I would highly recommend this apartment, and the complimentary cream tea was a lovely way to welcome us..

Fantastic place, will definitely be back

The apartment was really comfortable and very well equipped.

The view from the balcony was wonderful and it was fairly easy to get to the beach. The owner of the property was extremely helpful and understanding when my husband was ill on the day we were due to leave and arranged for us to have extra time to pack up.

The apartment was equipped to a very high standard. We loved sitting on the balcony with the most amazing sea views. We stayed local and explored using the walks recommended. Would definitely recommend and hope to be back soon.

Very well equipped apartment.

Modern fixtures and fittings. Fabulous view from the balcony. Lots of lovely walks enjoyed along the stunning coastline. Bigbury-On-Sea is a lovely part of the world; great beaches for bodyboarding. Village itself very quiet with limited amenities but perfect for getting away from it all! On our ‘return to’ list.

Excellent apartment.

Very well furnished, comfortable, modern and up to date. Outstanding sea views and easy access to all Bigbury beaches. Most impressed. Covid instructions were very good and hand sanitizers everywhere.

Great sea and sunset views from the large roof terrace which is at the rear of the apartment, plus a nice view of hill and sheep from the main bedroom at the front.

Very handy location if dining at Burgh Island as only it is only a 5 minutes walk downhill to the beach opposite the island. The apartment has been finished to a high standard with good quality fittings. It is in a quiet location too. Would definitely recommend.

This is the third time we have been to Tarifa in Devon and was as before, very well equipped, comfortable and an outstanding location.

I would add that one reason for us returning over a period of three years is its current relative ease of access; it being a level entry to the apartment and still something my disabled wife can negotiate. However there is a BIG step into the entrance from the carpark. This could be easily ramped, as far as I can see, and then the owners could quite legitimately then advertise it as suitable for wheelchair and similar access. Otherwise there will come a time when that may become the only reason we wouldn't return.

I booked this flat for my Mother.

We were blown away by how clean and well presented the flat is, it has been finished to a very high standard. Everything is brand new, robust and durable - I think even the washing line is brand new! Everything seemed to be very well thought out and beautifully presented. My Mother had a lovely week, enjoying cups of tea on the lovely balcony with an amazing view. The afternoon tea left was a lovely surprise and enjoyed by all!

I just wanted to say thank you for the fabulous flat.

It looks and feels like it was refurbished last week. The carpet is like new and much cosier and softer than our one at home. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything I could need to feed my children and I loved the non stick pans. We all enjoyed the dishwasher - a real holiday treat! The showers are fab after a day on the beach with such powerful hot water all the time and we did use the towel rails once on a rainy day but great they can be used independently. The rest of the time we used the sunshine and wind to dry everything on the balcony. We all slept really well on your comfy beds and the plentiful supply of sea air! I can't say anything about the surrounding area as the beach at Bigbury-on-Sea is so fabulous that we didn't go anywhere else, it is so easily accessible from the flat we just went up and down to the beach with spades, body boards, tennis racquets, towels and a wind break - we needed nothing more.

I hate to mark Tarifa down from excellent as it is was spotlessly clean, comfortably furnished and Is so well equipped, even down to providing 2 smart TVs.

However, there are two negativities in our opinion which impacted on our enjoyment of our stay. The first was the firmness of the mattresses, which affected our quality if sleep and left us with aching hips each morning. The second was the terrace which we were unable to comfortably use due to the number of seagulls nesting on the roof above and their continual coming and going. The picture showing a lovely clean terrace with a table set out for a meal in the apartment’s advertising is not accurate as it was dirty with seagull mess. There is an awning, but there was no means of lowering it, which would have allowed us to sunbath under its protection from the seagulls. There are wonderful views from the terrace which enjoys all day sunshine and was one of the draws to choosing Tarifa. I don’t mean to be negative as in all other aspects we cannot fault Tarifa, which is in a wonderful position in a wonderful location. ***Owner Response*** We are pleased to hear you had a good holiday at 3 Tarifa and are sorry you found the mattresses too firm for your liking and that you were bothered by the seagulls this week. Being so close to the sea and seagulls being a protected species, they are inevitable - we find that when we sit on the balcony, the seagulls stay away. The glass patio table does sometimes need cleaning during the weeks stay, which again is unavoidable being so close to the sea. Thank you for taking the time to leave us this feedback and we hope you visit the area again soon.

Beautiful apartment.

Beautifully clean. Perfect views from the balcony. Very enjoyable but the weather could have been better! Plenty of places to eat. Hope to return one day.

The Holiday accommodation was exceptionally good. Sykes Cottages were great to deal with.

Bigbury on Sea with its stunning views of Burgh Island was a perfect place to explore the Devon Coast and enjoy lovely beaches.

The apartment exceeded expectations and had lovely views from the balcony. There were a few restaurants a short distance away some of which can reached by the coastal path or a walk across the beach at low tide. Other lovely restaurants could be reached with a short drive. I will definitely come back here.

My parents, who are both in their mid 80's, my husband and myself spent a very relaxing time here and I'm looking to book again next year. The weather was mixed but watching the sea change throughout the day from the wonderful picture windows and patio area was definitely a plus for this apartment. One thing would be for there to be some bigger towels if possible.....the only down comment we could mention. A FABULOUS PLACE......THANK YOU

An absolute dream, with stunning views.

Good communication right from the start of the booking process, with friendly and helpful staff.

The property description was excellent, and if anything was quite reserved as the property was even better than described and is a credit to its owners and those who maintain it on their behalf.

It was a wonderful flat with a lovely view, it was just a shame about the nesting seagulls and their chicks just feet above our door to the patio.

This was our second stay at 3 Tarifa, Bigbury, and as always with Helpful Holidays, never have we been disappointed!

The apartment and its situation, overlooking the sea was all we could wish for. Everything you could ever need is there. Just so lovely. The cream tea makings there on arrival were much appreciated too! Cannot wait to come back again! Many thanks

The accommodation was lovely and it's a beautiful area but we were unable to use the balcony because seagulls were nesting with their young very close on the low roof of the property.

The patio and the furniture was very messy and the adult birds were too close for comfort.

The apartment was spotlessly clean and was the best equipped holiday home we have stayed in.

It was really outstanding. The views from the living room, twin bedroom and balcony were fabulous, ever changing sea, sand and surfers. The only down side were the seagulls that were busy nest building and depositing ‘mess’ on the balcony, we had to be careful to watch where we put our feet! It is obviously difficult at the seaside and some of the locals had set up various deterants with varying success. An outside broom and hose would have been useful! However having said all that, I am still recommending this apartment to friends. We had a lovely holiday, thank you!
