“The apartment is well situated next to a lovely beach area.”
Some of the apartment had been refurbished to a good standard and looked modern (bathrooms and living area). The sofa and beds were comfortable and the view from the balcony was fantastic - this is where we spent most of our time.
However, the listing states that the apartment has been fully refurbished we found this not to be the case. Whilst the carpets and bathrooms were new and walls had been repainted, some areas of the apartment (woodwork, windows, door frames, balcony) had not been cleaned, refreshed or painted. The standard of cleaning could have been better in areas eg. The window frames had brown stains, cobwebs and marks on them. The toilet in the master bedroom had brown marks on the white woodwork. The balcony door was difficult to open and close, some windows wouldn’t open, the skirting boards and inside doors had yellow marks on them as did some of the walls. It appears the apartment has had a partial refresh however a little more focus on the finishing touches and cleanliness would make this a much nicer place to stay and worthwhile of the ‘fully refurbished’ status.
The apartment block was generally well maintained however the main door often didn’t shut or lock and there was quite a substantial amount of personal belongings left in the hallway. There is a small parking space however it would be helpful to know in advance that it is next to the beach and not in the car park - whilst looking for our allocated space residents of the block were quite aggressive in asking us to get out of the way. There wasn’t an overly friendly vibe from owners and therefore we chose not to use the pool or communal areas.
Overall a nice location if you want a relaxed stay close to a lovely beach but could do with a good clean and finishing touches to justify the cost.
Thank you for taking time to provide such detailed feedback. We value all our guests’ comments, but were obviously a little disappointed to receive a slightly lower score than those submitted by our other guests. We are sorry your experience was not in line with others who have stayed since we refurbished the property. We note your point about “total refurbishment” and changed the wording on the listing to read “major refurbishment” reflecting that the property now enjoys two new bathrooms, kitchen, laundry room, sofas, dining table and chairs, blinds, lighting, Smart TV, artwork and soft furnishings plus carpets throughout. Windows and balcony doors are scheduled to be replaced later this year, while we have passed your comments about cleaning on to Coast & Country who manage the property for us. Keeping the balcony and windows clean is a challenge with the sea air and wildlife, but we also aim to employ a window cleaner to help. The block’s management company also has a schedule of works to replace windows and doors for the communal areas.
Finally, we have asked Coast & Country to ensure guests are aware where to park. We have found the residents to be very welcoming and helpful, so are sorry that your arrival was not as smooth as it could be.
We have planned a visit to inspect the property and will also review the painting and woodwork then. Despite repainting with Zinzzer blocker as a base, it sounds as though some marks may have come through.
Thank you again for taking time to share your feedback.
