Flat 1, 32 Newcomen Road

Overall the flat was lovely, it was warm and comfortable with beautiful views.

It was let down by not being clean on arrival, with dirty towels and the hoover left out and the dishwasher items not unloaded so I had to tidy up as I arrived. I contacted Sykes about this but just received a “I hope everything’s now been resolved” generic response which was a little odd. Then I had an unexpected visitor come into the flat the next morning, which was unsettling as I was staying on my own for 4 nights and no one had contacted me to say someone would be coming to clean during my stay. Again I contacted Sykes with no response, which was disappointing as they say they respond to WhatsApp messages within 24hrs. I’ve booked with Sykes before with family so was confident to use them, but I’d be reluctant to again given the poor customer service. Otherwise the flat itself was lovely and in a great location to explore.

This is a well equipped flat with lovely views.

We found it warm and very comfortable. The parking permit was a great addition as we didn't use the car all week. Great holiday, great location.

We were unable to access the courtyard as our key didn't work so we had to take our rubbish home with us.

Overall the property was lovely and comfortable and in a great location.

An excellent accommodation in the perfect position in Dartmouth.

The property was very clean and warm, everything you will need is supplied. Location is perfect, very close to all of Dartmouths shops, bars and restaurants and the seafront and harbour, but not too close to be bothered by noise. All facilities are very good quality, a comfortable bed and perfect kitchen/diner. Highly recommended and we will return.

We found the accommodation just right for a peaceful and comfortable stay.

The Christmas decorations and hamper were a lovely surprise and we would recommend your flat wholeheartedly.

The second time we have stayed at this accommodation, it is perfectly placed in Dartmouth close to lovely restaurants and local amenities.

Great to walk to Dartmouth Castle and beyond, as well as river cruises and the ferry across the Dart. Comfortable bed and we slept very well!

Excellent location within Dartmouth such that you are only 5 mins walk from the lower ferry.

Also the parking permit is invaluable - we left our car parked and just used ferries and busses. Lovely town to visit with so many options for things to do and places to visit. Positives about the flat (ground floor in a Victorian terrace ) - bed very comfy / kitchen well equipped / spacious flat / quiet / shower good /wifi good / ample clothes storage Negatives - hard to get towels dry but couldn’t work out how to turn towel rail on / Tv though a smart Tv is only connected to the main channels - it is not connected to the internet so we couldn’t log on Netflix, iPlayer or Prime accounts leaving us to use an IPad for watching things of our choice / lovely view across the harbour but the windows needed a good clean ! Some of the cupboards needed a good clean.

Property was clean & tidy but there were empty cans of booze (gin & tonic) on top of the wardrobe.

It was ideal for the two of us and provided us with a good base to explore Dartmouth. Being so central & with a parking permit was brilliant. Good value for money.

This was our fourth visit to this lovely flat.

Perfect for me it being ground floor as I find stairs very difficult. One thing I would say is that a new bathroom blind is needed as the one there still has a lot of dew mould on it. We also found the washer/dryer didn’t actually dry the washing but we were able to hang the washing on the airing rack provided! We have already booked our holiday for next year at this lovely flat and can’t wait! It gives us a lovely thing to be looking forward to over the coming year! Thank you for another lovely stay and can’t wait for next year’s visit!

No Wi-Fi until Monday evening, due to cables being by neighbour having hedge trimmed.

No soap or handwashing in bathroom, just empty dispenser. Flower boxes filled with Gerainiums was lovely, but blocked out the view across the river unless we sat on high stools. Mirror light in the bathroom very poor.

We had an excellent stay in Dartmouth.

The property is clean, well thought out and comfortable. Views are amazing! The one down point was that the oven's digital control has worn out and is faulty, meaning the operation of it was very difficult. We guessed half the time! Nevertheless it was a great holiday stay, and would highly recommend.

Well equipped kitchen, cosy bedroom and great shower! Lovely view over the Dart to Kingswear, and nice to have a just on the edge of the town feel so it was only a short walk to shops, pubs and restaurants. Highly recommend the Cherub for food and welcoming atmosphere! We would definitely rent the flat again if we are coming to Dartmoth, thank you.

Dartmouth is a lovely Town and this flat is spot on for a weeks holiday.

We love this property and have now stayed there three years in a row and have already booked it for next year’s holiday!

Great views overlooking the river and across to Kingswear. Can’t wait for our stay next year! We found the washing machine/dryer a bit tricky in that it doesn’t dry automatically and it’s not really that clear on the front of the machine as to what dial needs to go where for drying so was a matter of trial and error! Could a note be provided to indicate clearly as to what setting should be used for drying clothes? Thank you!

We have stayed in this property on five or six occasions and it has never disappointed.

The views over the river are ever changing with the variety of shipping and activities. Improvements to the bed and furniture were a welcome surprise and the only small criticism was the tap in the bathroom could do with a change as it is getting stiff to operate. All in all though the apartment is good value for money.

Very well fitted out, bed really comfortable, everything clean all the cutlery, plates etc.

all you could need. Decorated beautifully. Only slight criticism is the settee was a bit uncomfortable but that didn’t spoil are stay shame you can’t order the weather !,

Lovely, well maintained flat central to town with everything you need for a relaxing stay.

Super clean, only one small issue, too hot in the bedroom, no air able to come into room due to the small courtyard, however bed was so comfy. Amazing shower. Would recommend for visiting Dartmouth. Parking permit for car parking a short walk away. Lovely views over to Kingswear. We had a lovely stay. Thank you.

Ideally another chair (other than the sofa) to provide a further element of comfort.

Couldn't turn the towel rail off in the bathroom (it was very warm without this added heat). Other than that very good.

It is extremely good for a couple. Clean, comfortable, good facilities, and few minutes walk from the centre of town. Fortunate enough to have fabulous weather this time! We will be back!

The flat is in an excellent position for the town and Castle with a brilliant view over the Dart and Kingswear.

We bought a couple of mugs to supplement the four supplied but other than that the kitchen was adequately equipped. Good value for money.

We have stayed in this flat on 4 or 5 occasions previously.

We have enjoyed the peace and quiet and the spectacular views of the river Dart estuary. This visit was spoilt by decorating all week using power tools to rub down, ladders in front of windows and a constant smell of wet paint. In addition a new floor was being laid in a flat above. Had we been previously informed we would not have booked.

No oven gloves or pizza wheel, visited the shop in Dartmouth and were informed that people in the past had taken the silicon oven gloves, we were informed they would be replacing them however this did not happen while we were there.

The lock to outer door key was difficult to turn.corridor to the all the properties is in need of a redecorate. Overall property an excellent position and would visit again.

Excellent kitchen facilities. We had a great time using the flat as a base. Access to the town was so easy and Dartmouth and the surrounding area offers so much to do.

We had an issue with the kitchen tap. I reported it to the people in the Coast and Country office and it was repaired the same day. Fabulous service and support.

Not our first time in this apartment and once again it didn't disappoint.

Such a perfect location, just far enough out of the town to enjoy the peace and quiet, yet close enough to quickly be in the hub of things. The apartment is perfect for a couple with all that you need. Look forward to coming back again soon

We enjoyed our stay; excellent flat in an ideal location and very comfortable and with excellent views.

Only very minor point is that for occasions when not using the dishwasher, it would have been nice if there was a draining board.

Very happy with the accommodation and the beautiful unrestricted view of the river and Kingswear.

Very nicely furnished, loved the walk-in spacious shower and the bed had a quality mattress. Convenient for our daily walk up to the castle and stroll into town and riverside. Parking to offload and load car was an issue though as a lot of building work going on nearby meant limited spaces were taken up by work vehicles so we had to make a few trips to town car park on our final day.

Beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Wonderful view over to Kingswear. We will certainly be returning!

The flat entrance needs a good clean /paint .

The flat itself needs to be dusted thoroughly ! Also the mattress protector was stained . We arrived after the office had closed on Friday and prior to arriving we were given a key code , but it wasn’t explained that the key code was for the office and not the flat which was most frustrating after an 8 hour journey .

Great flat in a good position to explore everything Dartmouth has to offer.

Parking permit was an unexpected surprise.

A well positioned, clean and comfortable apartment.

Our only problem was that the hot water system failed about two days before our holiday concluded due to a defective part and the repair couldn’t take place until after we left the property. That said the agent was able to get us permission to use the shower of the property above. Which whilst not ideal obviously helped us continue our stay. A big thanks to the member of staff who made the arrangement and we look forward to our next holiday in Dartmouth next year

We have stayed in this property on 3 previous occasions the only criticism this time was that we had to clean the windows on the outside before enjoying the wonderful view.

We have stayed in this apartment on a number of occasions.

The views and location are excellent. However the decor is in need of some upgrading now and the chair and sofa are not very comfortable. The accommodation is ideal for a couple but we note that the price has gone up quite considerably. Not sure if this is because Sykes have now taken over from Coast and Country Cottages. There were no welcoming touches i.e pack of biscuits or nice bottle of wine which we have had previously. We note that the previous owners of the property have now sold it and wonder if this has anything to do with any of the above comments.

Brilliant location with great view of estuary and access to all Dartmouth has to offer.

Comfortable king size bed, good shower, well-equipped kitchen for 2 (could do with more or better quality glasses), and good TV set up. Lacked little extras eg loo rolls (only 1), bin bags (only 1), kitchen roll, coat hooks etc

We had a wonderful in this lovely flat.

It was superbly appointed and so close to all the amenities. We will definitely be back next year. A fabulous holiday

A prior recommendation to book restaurants would have been helpful.

We unfortunately left a coat in the property when we left but this was satisfactorily returned - thank you.

Fabulous little flat, perfect location within walking distance of the town and harbour.

Parking can be a challenge but it was peak season so very busy. If you want to eat out you need to book well in advance of your stay as all the restaurants were fully booked for the whole week.

The experience depends on who is in the flat above.

The tenants at the end of our stay were much noisier and every time they walk the windows in our flat rattled. Also someone living/squatting in the closed church/restaurant ne t door parks his motor bike on the pavement directly under the window of the flat which is only single glazed and as he only seemed to use it at night that disturbed us too. The flat itself had everything you needed and was very nice just a shame it was not as peaceful as it could have been.

This is a super little flat with a wonderful view.

Ideal for a couple + a dog. Nice that it's on the ground floor and has everything you'd need for a stay. Our view was spoilt by a workman's van parking outside the front window day and night for nearly the whole week. This was such a shame as the view is really lovely. Whilst we weren't in the flat all day it was a shame that in the mornings and evenings we couldn't take in the view. If it hadn't have been for this I would have given this 5 stars. Dartmouth is a lovely place and we would definitely return.
