I notice that somebody has mentioned this in a review, but this was for a stay four weeks ago and I spotted it only when I was looking to ensure I hadn't missed it in the original description. I notice that somebody has mentioned this in a review, but this was for a stay four weeks ago and I spotted it only when I was looking to ensure I hadn't missed it in the original description. If the hotel gate is closed in the evening, to access the street to walk down to the village also involves walking the very steep slope up through the car park. I am 67 and my husband 80. We are quite fit but found loading/unloading luggage difficult and using the stairs through the week tiring to say the least. The "allocated car parking space" stated is also misleading. Car keys have to be left with the hotel reception and car parking is mainly via the car park attendant because vacant spaces are generally blocked by a post. If anyone is loathe to leave their car keys, it is impossible to park. I queried this when collecting the property's keys at Coast & Country and the girl there seemed to think there were two specially allocated spaces for the villas and we were sent away to sort it out with the hotel. She was wrong and clearly had no intention of clarifying it for us with the hotel. This needs clarifying in the description as when we first arrived, the car parking attendant told us there were no spaces for us specifically and we just had to park as and where there was a space with no advice as to what to do if there wasn't one! The practice of having to collect and return the keys to Coast & Country is also ridiculous when a modern keysafe outside the property would be perfectly workable and common practice these days in holiday property we have rented over the past couple of years. Negotiating the narrow and busy Salcombe streets to do this is stressful and time-consuming.
