Ferry View

An excellent place to stay.

Lovely views of activities on the water, even on the days when we had no sunshine! Only one minor issue - had trouble finding the cutlery drawer! Hidden within another draw under the hob with a black handle on a black background took some finding. It would be good to put a bright label on it, or add its location to the property details.

We loved this apartment, we visited in a chilly November and the accommodation was certainly warm enough.

We enjoyed the view and watching activities on the river.

The kitchen was well equipped and clean and the bed comfortable with good quality bed linen. The owner might like to reconsider the heating situation as we had some chilly nights and came home a day early because of the lack of heating. Perhaps a thermostatically controlled system would be an improvement whilst preventing unnecessary use of the heating.

Excellent standard of accommodation.

The views were amazing. The accommodation was very clean and bright. The only issue I would say that there were no salt and pepper mills available. This would be a nice touch to aid people on arrival. Also in our last accommodation in Weymouth we had a full supply of coffee caf and decaf. tea caf and decaf and sugar in sachets kept in individual boxes. This was a nice touch which we could use throughout our week if needed. I know you provide a welcome package which helps on arrival. Thank you.

The apartment was in beautiful location and was clean on arrival.

As visitors to Dartmouth, it would have been useful to have a photo of the entrance from the road as we had difficulty locating it. The sign of the road entrance reads "coastal path", not public footpath, so either the wording has to be changed or a photo is required. There was much confusion regarding the seagull sacks, with a strict warning that all rubbish had to be placed inside it, There was no seagull sack so we had to phone customer services (who were very obliging) to request one, only to be told that one wasn't needed after all. The dustbin outside was already full and another call was made to see when that could be emptied. We tried to call into your local office, however, it was closed on that Tuesday, so another call to CS. There were no bin liners to replace the one we used and the notice stated there would be. Arghhh! All minor but aggravating . It might be useful for a laminated notice to be placed in the top kitchen drawer to stage that the cutlery is in a slim black drawer above

One of the nicest places we have stayed in - the views fabulous, a very spacious comfortable property with everything you could want - apart from a tray perhaps!

We’ve been to Ferry View a few times now and there is only ever one disappointment.

That is how South Hams, Dartmouth? Deal with re-cycle or waste-they don’t! That’s the point. In this day and age such behaviour is unacceptable. I acknowledge logistical difficulties but other places have solutions

Spacious apartment with a good kitchen and a great view

We had a perfect week at our stay here.

It is very comfortable and the view from the balcony is second to none. We are a small family and this property was located brilliantly for us to access all the local amenities and attractions. It’s not too much of a trek to the property up the hill which was important for us with a pushchair. There are steps down to the property from the main road however we found we negotiated these with reasonable ease. Immaculate, not over furnished with breakables (always a bonus with kids around) and really a lovely place to spend our down time! We will definitely be back!

We really enjoy staying at Ferry View, and have done so several times since 2017.

The location is fabulous and the apartment is very relaxing to spend time in. Everywhere is also spotlessly clean. Normally I prefer to discuss any problems with the company rather than write something negative in the review, and I did so last year regarding the mattress in the main bedroom, hoping something would be done about it. It was in a poor condition when we first stayed seven years ago, and now it's like sleeping on plastic crates. After two nights, we had to move into the twin room because it was impossible to get a good night's sleep.

We really love coming to this property, it's a great location and a clean property with good amenities.

It was our second visit and we hope to book again next year to visit Dartmouth. Our only complaint is that the master bed is so uncomfortable, we chose on a couple of nights to use the single beds as the bed is lumpy and hard. I did note that another review a year ago had also complained about the bed. So please make it a 10/10 by updating the bed, it would make such a difference having a comfortable nights sleep. Apart from that it's perfect.

For several years Ferry View was our go-to property in Dartmouth but it had become a little tired, so we went elsewhere.

This was our first time back since its mini refurb and it’s certainly improved in some aspects. However, on arrival we were disappointed to note that the patio off the kitchen was in a dreadful state and obviously hadn’t been cleaned for quite some time. The next morning I rang Sykes and asked for it to be sorted. To cut a long story short, despite a very prompt response from the company, the problem was not dealt with - apparently a specialist clean would need to be booked in advance - and consequently we were unable to make use of this pleasant little sun trap. Added to this, the twin room en-suite shower cabinet requires some work to remove mouldy silicon and the anti-slip bath mat was so grotty we hid it from sight. The apartment itself was generally very well cleaned and presented, though some guidance about how to find the ‘hidden’ cutlery drawer would have been appreciated - a sticky label on the front would do the trick. The instructions re the rubbish disposal also caused some confusion as there were contradictory notices attached to the fridge. Come on Sykes, get your finger out and make this apartment as good as it should be,

We had a wonderful stay in Ferry View.

The flat is roomy, comfortable and very clean. It was also an easy short walk to the many facilities of Dartmouth.

We love to stay at Ferry View as it is perfect in every way for us.

The views are stunning, the apartment is well equipped and very comfortable, and the location is exactly where we want to be in the area.

We had a great stay.

The apartment has an amazing view of the river and is well equipped with modern, comfortable furnishings. The weather was a bit mixed and this meant we had to stay in a little more than normal, but we had a nice big TV with Netflix so was no problem. The apartment is in a fantastic location and Dartmouth is beautiful - we would recommend the round robin boat and steam train trip and a walk to Blackpool Sands - stop off at the Castle and get the bus back - amazing views all the way!

Ferry View has had a lovely upgrade since we were last there, with a new kitchen, balcony and furnishings.

It has always been our favourite place to stay in Dartmouth. The improvements are perfect, although the sofa is a little small in the lounge. Hopefully the master bed will be next for an upgrade as it is a little lumpy which gets tiresome after a couple of nights. It's still a lovely and relaxing place to stay though, with a perfect view of the river and across to Kingswear. It is a great location for visiting Dartmouth and feels like home from home after so many visits.

Excellent property with lovely view.

One minor problem dealt with quickly and efficiently. The cleaners even helped us with the luggage up the steps. Much appreciated.

Dishwasher was not fixed to unit properly.

Needed a thorough clean. Radiator in lounge not hot enough. Everything else was very good.

The property was just as good as the listing said it would be.

The only very minor issue we had was with the water which on a couple of occasions failed to run, as in, no water from the taps. This would not prevent me from booking this property again.

Needs new toaster and dishwasher needs some attention as catching on plinth

A wonderful week spent at Ferry View.

The view from the balcony in the lounge is great and certainly kept our 1 year old entertained watching all the boats on the river! It’s a really spacious apartment with less than a 5 min walk into the town centre. Our only criticism would be the mattress in the master bedroom is quite uncomfortable, feels like it needs replacing. Couldn’t recommend this property enough, we’ll definitely be returning.

If anything the listing didnt show the property well enough.

It was bigger than expected from the photos and it did have wifi which was the best thing since we have teens!

We arrived in the dark and with old people with us found the steps down in darkness extremely difficult….

no street light on the bend in steps. In daylight no problem. Perhaps advise to take torch if dark arrival. Otherwise a great place to stay. Thanks.

Comfortable, clean, hood quality Outstanding balcony views Would definitely recommend

As always we had a lovely holiday staying at Ferry View and we were pleased that the standard hasn't slipped from the previous owners.

Spotlessly clean, well-stocked kitchen and lovely furnishings etc. We could have done with an oven glove as I had to use a towel which got a bit marked. Other than that, we loved it as usual and have booked for next year.

Whilst the apartment itself was good and well positioned we were disappointed with what was provided: 1 toilet roll per toilet 3 dishwasher tablets 1 spare bin bag No toilet cleaner If this is ‘company policy’ then you should let people know in advance so that they can come prepared.

Also it was extremely cold on arrival and the heating instructions were not easy to follow We have rented many apartments and cottages over the years and have never had to raise such issues before

Lovely property, good location and great view.

Very spacious and well equipped. There are uneven steps to negotiate so beware of that but we planned what we needed for the day to avoid too many trips up and down. Parking on the street was ok off season but is at a premium in Dartmouth. Car park permit is a 10 minute walk away.

A very comfortable and cosy apartment with lovely views across the river.

The apartment was well equipped and lacked for nothing. The sofa and the beds we’re comfortable and the whole place was spotless. The car parking was a fair way from the building (near the higher ferry). This wasn’t an issue for us as we didn’t have any rain but would have be an issue if we had. It was difficult to find a space on the road to load/unload - in January it wasn’t a problem but during busy periods it might be more difficult. The steps down to the property are steep and uneven so may prove a challenge to some people. That said it was great to be so close to town, but it was still peaceful and relaxing.

This was our second time at Ferry View and it didn’t disappoint.

Well equipped, warm, cosy and with a lovely view. A few steps to negotiate which don’t get any easier for us as we get older but that’s Dartmouth for you and …… despite this, we will keep coming to this lovely town and area of national beauty

Loved our stay at Ferry View (in spite of all the steps!

) A really relaxing stay in a comfortable apartment with a good level of equipment only a few minutes walk to the lower ferry, pubs and town. Enjoyed lazing in bed or having a drink on the balcony while watching the boats go by.

Very spacious, very clean.

Very comfortable. No wi fi but that was not the lettings agencies fault. A perfect base for exploring the surrounding areas. Will definitely be back.
