“We stayed at Walter’s Rest from 26th December - 1st January as a family of four (2 adults, a 10-year-old & a 3-year-old) and had a really lovely Twixmas break.”
The apartment was the perfect size for our family and felt comfortable and well thought out. Our children absolutely adored the window seat, being able to peek at the harbour on one side and the Christmas lights on the other — such a special, cosy touch that really made the stay memorable for them.

The location is fantastic, just steps from the river and right in the heart of Dartmouth, making it easy to enjoy walks, shops and the atmosphere of the town. The welcome pack of goodies was a really thoughtful touch and made us feel genuinely welcomed on arrival.
Facilities were excellent and the apartment worked brilliantly as a base for exploring — we enjoyed day trips to Charmouth, Paignton and Torquay, all very manageable from here. Parking can be a little tricky in the area, as expected in Dartmouth, but we always managed to find free parking within a 5 minute walk, which was absolutely fine for us. The Wi-Fi could occasionally struggle if both children were on devices at once, but as we were out exploring most of the day it didn’t impact our stay.
Overall, Walter’s Rest is a warm, welcoming and perfectly located apartment and we wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. It was a wonderful base for a festive family break in Dartmouth.
