    “This was our first trip to Salcombe.”

    What a beautiful place it is. We hit lucky with booking 14 Combehaven. A perfect apartment with great views. Very clean and well prepared, and a welcome pack including milk in the fridge. 2 good sized bedrooms, one with twin beds. Lovely sitting on the balcony with great views over the estuary with all the boats and the countryside beyond that. Probably due to the location, the television reception is awful, but the apps are all on the screen when you turn it on and they work fine so watch ...

It would be nice to have a radio, but we took out Alexa and that worked fine. Great having 2 parking spaces and a lift. Salcombe is hilly. It is only a 5 minute walk into the centre, but if you have mobility issues then this may not be an ideal location for you. It is a lovely apartment and we will certainly return there again. Thank you to the owners.

The property

Situated just a short walk from Salcombe’s picturesque waterfront, boutique shops and popular restaurants, 14 Combehaven is a fantastic second floor apartment. This open plan apartment has been renovated with a New England ‘shaker’ style granite kitchen, coal-effect gas fire and separate dining room. Amenities in the kitchen include a gas hob and oven, a dishwasher, washing machine and dryer, and a fridge-freezer. The lounge boasts two comfortable sofas, a coffee table, television, DVD player, double French doors open out to the balcony with a lovely view over the town towards Batson Creek. There are table and chairs on the balcony to enjoy the view of the estuary during the summer sunshine. A separate dining room has a table and chairs to seat 4. Two bedrooms in total, the first is the master with a king-size bed and an en-suite shower room.

The second bedroom has two single beds.

The second bathroom has a bath and hand-held shower over. 14 Combehaven is the ideal location for a family break; enjoy the shops and restaurants in the town of Salcombe, or catch the ferry to a choice of sandy beaches, including East Portlemouth, North Sands and South Sands.

If you are feeling more adventurous, try sailing, kayaking, or hiking the South West Coast Path.

SALCOMBE

Kingsbridge 7 miles; Dartmouth 21 miles; Plymouth 24 miles; Paignton 26 miles.

Salcombe is a popular destination for walkers and families looking for a holiday by the sea and was once a major port. There are two pretty beaches within a short distance, North Sands and South Sands and further on is the National Trust property Overbeck’s where you can wander through the subtropical gardens. Why not have a more adventurous day and try out the watersports available on the estuary including surfing, kayaking or a more leisurely boat trip? Whilst staying in Salcombe you must take advantage of the locally sourced seafood which is served in many of the restaurants, pubs, cafés and delicatessens. The southern tip of Devon provides some spectacular scenery and picturesque vistas with a number of sandy beaches, lovely villages with thatched cottages and some fantastic opportunities for walking, including the South West Coast path.
