“According to the Sykes listing at the time of our booking/stay, this cottage had 2 king size beds.”

It didn’t. It had 2 bedrooms with standard double beds and a third with bunks. We found this particularly annoying as before booking we passed-up numerous other cottages, rejected because of double beds. Even more irritating is that the cottage is ‘managed’ by Coast & Country Cottages, a Sykes subsidiary with an office in Salcombe just a 10 minute walk away. Clearly property details provided by owners aren’t verified. To be fair they did come around to confirm bed measurements and offered some small compensation when we brought this to their attention and the listing has now been corrected. Parking is tight but was manageable even with our Ford Kuga. We have suggested they add measurements for clarity. The main issue with the space is a power pole to the front right corner but you can easily make full use of the space by parking on a slight angle in behind the pole. Otherwise the cottage is as listed and shown online. The hot water was good as were the towels and the location is excellent with a tiny sea view as you head up the front steps. There is still only seating for four in the living room despite previous feedback. The kitchen has four chairs and two wood stools. With two small kids these seating arrangements might be ok. With 6 adults, it might not be. The TV in the living room could do with an upgrade and the décor reflects what feels like a partial renovation with some bits not up to the same standard as the rest. The kitchen is reasonably equipped but could do with some extras. For example, there’s a pie dish but no pastry brush or oven trays, things you’d use to make a pie. The garden could also stand a good cut back around the pathways. This wasn’t a bad place to stay as it’s reasonably well equipped but our stay was definitely compromised by the bed misinformation and property presentation could be a lot better.
