    “Perfect location and a cosy cottage.”

    We stayed over Christmas 2025 for 5 days. We are a couple and with adult children doing their own thing we decided to go to Salcombe which we visit regularly. The spare bedroom has bunks we didn't need so it was used as a handy changing room and walk in wardrobe. The location is perfect, opposite the Salcombe Gin distillery! Close to all the great pubs and restaurants, Tap house, Fortescue, Victoria. My wife was overjoyed as there are no hills! The cottage is well appointed, open plan lounge ...

The spare bedroom has bunks we didn't need so it was used as a handy changing room and walk in wardrobe. The location is perfect, opposite the Salcombe Gin distillery! Close to all the great pubs and restaurants, Tap house, Fortescue, Victoria. My wife was overjoyed as there are no hills! The cottage is well appointed, open plan lounge kitchen diner. The area at the front is shared with 3 other. Properties but gate makes it secure to let your dog out. We took our spaniel and she had a great time also. The cottage is well maintained and modern. Fast fibre WiFi and a smart TV. The TV apps are limited so take your fire TV stick if you want the full choice you're used to at home and the convenience of all the apps being logged in. There's no parking so budget for Island street or Creek. If You're not using the car at all (or seldom) the cheapest per 24hours is top of bonfire hill. But allow for the driver to take a brisk walk up a lot of elevation. You can park outside for unloading. Harbour side or lower town accomodation is usually smaller than upper town and included parking is rare, but this is the tradeoff for the ideal hill-less location. Great stay, highly recommended.

SALCOMBE

Kingsbridge 7 miles; Dartmouth 21 miles; Plymouth 24 miles; Paignton 26 miles.

Salcombe is a popular destination for walkers and families looking for a holiday by the sea and was once a major port. There are two pretty beaches within a short distance, North Sands and South Sands and further on is the National Trust property Overbeck’s where you can wander through the subtropical gardens. You can also take the small ferry across the estuary to the beaches of East Portlemouth, and a walk to Gara Rock. Why not have a more adventurous day and try out the watersports available on the estuary including sailing, kayaking or a more leisurely boat trip? Whilst staying in Salcombe you must take advantage of the locally sourced seafood which is served in many of the restaurants, pubs, cafés and delicatessens. The southern tip of Devon provides some spectacular scenery and picturesque vistas with a number of sandy beaches, lovely villages with thatched cottages and some fantastic opportunities for walking, including the South West Coast path.
