“We had a very disappointing stay here.”

Whilst the cottage could be very nice inside, the first thing that hit us as we walked in to see the beautiful view the listing promotes was that this cottage overlooks a big car park. Whilst the cottage could be very nice inside, the first thing that hit us as we walked in to see the beautiful view the listing promotes was that this cottage overlooks a big car park. During our stay, we had a car with a top box parked right outside the kitchen window, completely blocking the view from the kitchen for the duration of our stay. The photos in the listing are deceiving of the view and it is not mentioned in the description, which actually misrepresents the view. Our immediate view from the cottage—both from upstairs and the lounge—was cars, white vans, and two skips. We couldn’t use the balcony to enjoy the view for the reasons above, and also due to poor maintenance: the patio door was an absolute struggle to open and the deck was full of moss and very slippery. The cottage is tired, the furniture is tired, and we found the lounge depressing and soulless at night — we went out each night for that reason. The furniture in the lounge is a mish‑mash of pieces, probably second‑hand, with a very small TV. It’s really dreary and unwelcoming. It’s very well located, but again, there is no immediate parking facility — it was a ten‑minute walk to the car park that is allocated for the cottage. This is an honest opinion, and the details of the cottage need to be amended to point out the location of the car park at the back that you can’t use but overlook from all rear windows.. If we had known about looking directly over the car park, which really spoils the estuary view, we would never have booked this cottage. This review must be printed as it’s only fair to give people honest opinions..

The cottage has superb views of the estuary towards East Portlemouth and South Pool Creek from most rooms.

Originally part of a boat builder's yard, the cottage is old and quirky, with many period features. It has an attractively furnished sitting room with delightful views, two small sofas, Smart TV/DVD player and a door to the balcony. The kitchen/dining room is well-equipped with a range of appliances, and a table seating up to six people. There are three bedrooms in total: on the first floor is a double with a King-size bed and an adjoining Jack-and-Jill shower room, connecting to a twin room with two single beds and a further TV and DVD player.

Both rooms have fantastic views. There is another twin room at the lower ground floor level.

Please note this has a limited head height of 5'10".

The room has a built-in wardrobe and a small dressing table.

Next to this bedroom is a bathroom, again with limited head height in parts.

In the boat store is a full sized freezer and a washing machine, along with a sink, and plenty of space for storing beach kit.

There is an electric heated clothes airer provided. Outside there is a small balcony with two chairs, overlooking the estuary. Strictly no smoking or pets permitted. Wi-Fi available. As a baby friendly property, a travel cot, bed guard, high chair and stair gate are available. Small cutlery, plastic beakers and plates are provided.
