A holiday to Aveton Gifford promises days spent embracing the great outdoors, dining in delicious (and some of the oldest) eateries and restorative evenings spent cosying up on the sofa.

A holiday to this picturesque village isn’t complete without walking to the sandy beaches of Bigbury-on-Sea and Burgh Island across the water. On your arrival to Burgh Island, enjoy a local beverage in The Pilchard Inn - a traditional pub that dates back to 1336! When walking back to your holiday cottage, we recommend stopping at The Oyster Shack restaurant, located near the Aveton Gifford tidal road, which serves amazing fresh seafood.

The stunning estuary is a hotspot for water sport enthusiasts. Kayak, paddleboard or go swimming in this picturesque spot. In fact, every year the popular Sunrise Swoosh, a 6km, shallow wild swimming race from Aveton Gifford to Bantham, has the village bustling with swimmers ready to see South Devon from a different perspective.

In Aveton Gifford there is a village shop for food supplies, a large pub for a traditional Sunday roast and popular play park for children. Or, enjoy a short, picturesque drive to the nearby market towns Modbury or Kinsgbridge, which both boast great places to eat, including quaint tea rooms for a delicious Devonshire afternoon tea.
